REGISTERING DEVICE FOR REPEATING FIREARMS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 16., 1915.
Application filed June 19, 1914. Serial No. 846,139.
To a whom it may concern Be it known that we, HARRY HoMEwooD- and FRANK G. NORMART, citizens of the United States, residing at Fresno, in the county of Fresno and State of California, have invented a new and useful Registering Device for Repeatin Firearms, of which the following is a-speci cation.
One object of the present invention, is the provision of a means which is visible at all times, and which will indicate the number of shells used by the firearm.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description 1 designates the receiver of the firearm,
which has disposed therein, the slidable bar 2 to operate the breech block 3. Mounted within the receiver is the pivoted member 4" having the projecting arm 5 which is also operated simultaneously with the breech block 3. A rod6 is connected to the projection 5 and extends through the channel 7 formed in the stock 8, the opposite end thereof being connected to the crank 9 of o the shaft 10 of the counter 11. The dial or indicator 12 is mounted, so that the numerals of the counter are visible at all times. By this mechanism, it will be seen that the number of shells extracted are counted, and thus by deducting such number from the number originally placed in the magazine, the operator readily ascertainsthe number of shells remaining in the magazine.
What is claimed is: 1
The combination with a firearm having a stock, said stock being provided with a longitudinal .channel therethrough, the channel terminating in a socket open to one side of the stock, a receiver carried by the stock and in communication with the forward end of the channel, and a breech block mechanism mounted in the receiver, of a registering mechanism, including a counter fitting in the socket of the stock, said counter being provided with an operating shaft, an arm carried by the shaft and operable within the socket of the stock, and a rod slidably mounted in the channel and having its ends projected respectively into the socket of the stock and into the receiver, the end projecting into the socket being operably connectedto the arm of the counter, while the other end is operably connected to the breech block mechanism.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing as our own, we have hereto afiixed'our signatures in the presence of two witnesses.
