JOSEPH MAKOWSKI, OF FORT WAYNE, INDIANA.
TOILET ARTICLE.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOSEPH MAKowsKI, al
State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toilet Articles,"
of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in toilet articles.
The primary object of this invention is to combine a hair brush and combin a unitary structure, and whereby the usual brush handle is adapted for manipulating both the brush and the comb in the hair drying operation. A further object is to provide a hair brush with a removable comb positioned for immediate use longitudinally of the comb back, such comb being readily removable when desired. a
A still further object is to provide a removable comb-mounting upon a hair brush and in providing a comb which is removably fitted within said bracket.
I With these general objects in view and others that will appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same con-' sists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the In the accompanying drawings forming apart of this application and wherein like numerals ofreference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views lligurev 1 isa side elevation of the device, the
comb holding bracket being partially .broken away. Fig. 2 is atop plan view of I 'ftional .view
.' "1.1, 2, v I I Referring more in detail to the drawings,@ flit-will be noted that the hair brush'lO is provided of substantially the usual construction and having the bristles'll thereof se the device, and, Fig. 3 is a transverse sectaken uponline III- -JII of Y cured to the brush back 12 which is extended end thereof-bifurcated, and forming later; 7 all projecting arms .15 which are curved and have their hooked ends 16 adapted'to fit around the base portion of the handle 13. Y The other end of the-bracket strip is prointo a handle13 formed integral therewith.
1A metallic bracket. 14 islongitudinally positioned centrally upon the brush back 12 and consists of a metallic-strip having one Specification of Letters Patent. w

vided .withia depending' hook l7 having a lock screw-18 threaded :therethrough and adapted to bear upon the'curved free end 19 of" the brush back 12. The bracket strip 14 is substantially U'-sha'ped in cross secti'on as best illustrated in Fig. its entire length, and forms a comb-receivng groove open at the top thereof and havmg, its sides 20 slightly converging upwardly. A comb 21 has its base portion 22 slightly tapered conforming to for slidable reception within the strip 14, and between the sides 20 thereof. The comb back is also preferably provided withlongitudinal grooves 23 upon opposite sides thereof and adapted to receive the upper edges 24 of the strip sides 20. The strip 14 15 provided with an upwardly-struck lug 25 upon the base portion of the strip which is "adapted by its own resiliency to be receivedwithin a bottom socket and recess 26 in the comb back.
3 for substantially and adapted From this detailed description of the de- 7 dental displacement by means of the closely x fitting sides 20 of the bracket and also by the retaininglug 25 so that'the comb and,
brush may be readily operated by the handle 13 or the comb may be detached if de' sired.
While the forms of the invention herein shown and described are what are .believed' to be preferable embodiments thereof, it is nevertheless to be understood thatvarious .forms, modifications and arrangement of the parts as shownma'y be had without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed. v
What I claim as new is 1. The combination with a base member provided with a narrowed portion, of a strip memberv substantially U-shaped' in cross-section, diverging hooked arms at one end of the strip adapted for engaging said narrowed portion, a depending hook at the other end of said strip, a set screw carried by said hook'and adapted for engaging said base member, and a comb removably positioned upon said strip. v 2. The combination with a' base member provided with a 'narrowed portion, of a' strip member; substantially U-shapedilin the upper edges of said sides in engagement with said grooves, said comb provlded with a recess adapted for seating over said struck-up lug when the comb 1s opera-tively positioned upon the said base member In testimony whereot I aihx my signa ture 1n presence of two Witnesses.
