To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ERNEST F. BROWN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pasco, in the county of Franklin and State of \Vashington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tag-Holders,

of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

This invention comprehends certain new and useful improvements in tag holders and has for its primary object to provide a device of this character which may be secured to boxes, crates, baggage, etc., and which will serve to securely retain in place, the tag upon which is written the address of the party to whom the same is to be delivered.

Another object is to provide a device of this character which will be constructed in such manner that while the tag is securely held in place, it may be readily removed when desired, and reversed to expose the name and address of the party to whom the empty receptacle is to be returned.

A further object is to provide a device of this character which will be constructed in such manner that it may be readily secured in position upon the receptacle and will be extremely cheap to manufacture, as well as highly eflicient in use and composed of theminimum number of parts.

A still further object is to provide a device of this character which will include means for forcing outwardly, the tag as the spring clamping member is raised from engagement with said tag, whereby the latter may be readily removed and reversed.

A still further object is to generally improve the construction and operation of devices of this character and increase the efficiency thereof, without materially increasing the cost of the same.

WVith the above and other objects in view, my invention consists in certain novel constructions, combinations, and arrangements of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which,

Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 2, showing the inner spring frame member drawn outwardly and the tag in position to be removed.

Referringmore specifically to the draw ings in which similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, 1 designates the outer frame member which may be of any form desired, but which is shown as being of rectangular form and composed of a single piece of wire and adapted to be secured to a box or other receptacle by staples 2 or the like.

Mounted upon one end of the outer frame member 1 is a leaf spring member 3 which is secured in position by having one end t wrapped around the end of the frame 1. The leaf spring member 3 is curved outwardly intermediate its ends and is extended toward the opposite end of the frame, and presses outwardly upon the tag positioned in the outer frame member 1 and pressed against said leaf spring member 3 and against the receptacle to which the frame member 1 is secured by the inner spring frame member 6 engaged with the outer face of the tag 5 and having its opposite ends coiled around the same end of the frame 1 to which the leaf spring member 3 is secured, as shown at 7 and then engaged against the receptacle, as shown at 8. It will be understood that the inner spring frame member 6 is of substantially U- shaped form and is formed of spring wire or any other suitable resilient material and it will be seen that by securing the same in the manner set forth, said inner spring frame member will serve to properly retain the tag 5 in member 1.

The tag 5 may be provided upon one face with the name and address of the party to whom the receptacle is to be delivered while upon the opposite side is placed the name and address of the party to which the re ceptacle is to be returned, after the removal of its contents, and it is simply necessary to raise the end of the inner spring frame member 6 slightly for the purpose of withdrawing the tag 5 to reverse the same, the leaf spring member 3 pressing outwardly upon said tag 5 and thereby forcing one end and inner frame member 1 sufficiently to allow the operator to take hold of the same and withdraw the tag.

While I have shown the preferred embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that minor changes in the details of construction and arrangement of parts may be made within the scope of the appended claim without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing any of the advantages of the same.

What is claimed is A device of the character described comprising an outer frame member formed of a single strand of material adapted to be 5 outer frame member and coacting with the 20 receptacle to exert an outward pressure.
