Description

W. T. THORP. TICKET HOLDER. APPLICATION EILED MAY I 5I l9l7.
1,274,628. Patented Aug. 6,1918.
INVENTOR WITNESSES 07"]? 6; Q. W LZQ ATTORNEY WILLIAMT. THORP, 0F HILLSBORO, ILLINOIS.
TICKET-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 6, 1918.
Application filed May 15, 1917. Serial No. 168,824.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM T. THORP, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hillsboro, in the county of Montgomery and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Ticket-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is an improved ticket holder, the object of the invention being to provide an improved device of this kind which is compact, which forms a receptacle for holding a number of tickets in such manner as to enable the tickets to be readily removed one at a time from the holder and which can also be readily filled.
The invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of a ticket holder constructed and arranged in accordance withmy invention.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the same.
Fig. 3 is a similar view on the plane indicated by the line 33 of Fig. 2.
Fig. l is an inverted plan of the same.
My improved ticket holder comprises a body or receptacle 1 and a cover 2. The body and the cover are cylindrical in form and the cover is provided with a flange 3 to engage and fit closely around the upper portion of the cylindrical side wall of the body. The body is provided with a central circular opening 4 in the bottom and with recesses 5 which communicate with said opening. The wall of the body is provlded, immediately above the bottom with slots 7. Within the body are angled partitions 8 which hold the tickets in crossed relation alternately and so that the end of the lowermost ticket in the two crossed piles of tickets is presented to the slot 7.
A cross shape follower 9 is arranged: to bear on the tickets and is connected to the cover by a spring 10 which presses the fol- Copies of this patent may be obtained for lower upon the uppermost ticket so that the lowermost ticket is held tightly on the bottom of the body.
When the cover is removed from the holder, the spring which connects the cover to the follower causes the follower to also be removed from the holder, and prevents the follower from becoming lost or misplaced.
The tickets opening in the bottom of the body enables the lowermost. ticket to be reached by the thumb and pushed outwardly from the holder through one of the slots 7 As the lowermost ticket of one of the crossed piles is thus drawn out the spring and follower serve to move the lowermost ticket of the other crossed pile into contact with the bottom of the body, and across the opening, so that the tickets are obtained one at a time and alternately from the crossed piles.
While I have herein shown and described a preferred form of my invention, I would have it understood that changes may be made in the form, proportion and construction of the several parts without departing from the spirit of my invention and within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, I claim A ticket holder having means to permit the tickets to be arranged therein and held in crossed piles and with the tickets of each pile alternating with those of the other pile, said holder also having an opening in the bottom across which the lowermost ticket extends and to which the tickets of the respective piles are alternately presented, and slots arranged in a common plane and in the side of the holder at the end of the tickets, a follower bearing on the tickets and a spring to exert its tension on the follower and press the latter against the tickets.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
WILLIAM T. THORP.
