This invention relates to a combined eollar and hood for overcoats, capes, mince-ats, and other such garments: and it has for one of its objects to provide a combined colla:` and hood which, when folded into one posi tion, lies smoothly over the shoulders ot the garment and forms a collar of the style known as a shawl collar; and when unfolded and drawn up over the head of the wearer, forms a hood, the front of which lits snugly :lbout the face of the wearer; and it has, for another of its objects, to provide means for fastening the front of the collar to the lapels of the garment whereby the same may be held against displacement; and to use the same means for holding the corners of the hood together underneath the chin of the wearer.
A further, and more general object is to provide u combined collar and hood of the above character which contains substantially no more material than is required for either the collar or the hood, whereby the same is rendered neat and attractive in appearance, and comfortable to the wearer.
The above objects are attained in a garment constructed in accordance with the acrompanying drawing, wherein Figure 1 shows a garment provided with my combined collar and hood, the suino be ing folded down over the shoulders ol' the garment to form a collar therefor; Fig. il is a rear view of the garment as shown in Fig. 1; Fig` 3 shows the hood in the act of being extended over the head of the .vearer: Fig. -l shows the hood drawn about the head of lthe wearer with its forward corners fastened beneath the chin; Fig. is a, section through the back of the neck of the garment, showing the parts folded in the position they occupy in Figs. 1 and Fig. 6 is an onlarged, transverse section through the his tening means and adjacent portions of the collar and 'lepels of the garment, such section being indicated by the line 6-6 of Fig. 1; and F1g.7 shows an underneath view of Specification of Letters Patent.
