Be it known that I, Bonnema E. SAWYER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fitchburg. in the co-unty of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Display-Card, of which the following is a specification.
rlhis invention relates to a display card particularly adapted for holding and exhibiting Celluloid hairpins or other articles of similar formation. Such articles have a highly polished surface and the parts thereof are of substantially uniform cross section throughout. These two characteristics combined make it very difficult to prevent their accidental displacement when mounted in a display card.
It is the object of my present invention to provide an improved form of display card which will effectively retain articles of this class when mounted therein and in which the probability of accidental displacement is very slight.

The preferred form of my invention is shown in the drawings in which- Figure 1 is a plan View of a display card having several hairpins mounted therein; Fig.v 2 is a view similar to Fig.. 1 but showing the reverse side of the card; and Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view taken along the line 3--3 of Fig. 1.
As shown in the drawing my invention comprises a card A formed of any suitable sheet material and having two parallel series of incisions B and C formed therein. The incisions B are U-shaped, each incision forming a tongue of corresponding outline which is secured to the body of the card along an edge Z2 which is substantially parallel to the ixis of the series B. Each incision C is V-shaped and is so located that the point of the V is substantially u onnthe axis of the series C. Each incision forms a tongue of corresponding shape secured to the body of the card along the edge c which is substantially at right angles to the axis of the series C. The incisions in each series are alined transversely and are spaced lon 'tudinally to correspond to the particular articles which are to be mounted upon the card.
One form of hairpin is indicated at D. When mounted upon the card, each leg of the pin. extends through one incision of each series, pressing backward the tongues formed by the incisions. The V-shaped incisions C present two oppositely inclined gripping edges which engage any article inserted therein and effectively prevent accidental displacement thereof. At the same time the tongues in the two series press against the rear face of the article and assist in retainin it in the card.

What I do claim is 1. A display card having two parallel series of incisions formed therein, the incisions in one series being U-shaped, and each forming a tongue secured to the body of the card along an edge parallel to the axis of the series, and the incisions of the other series beingV-shaped and each formingV a tongue secured tot e body of the card along an edge transverse to the axis of the series.
2. A display card for hairpins having two series of'incisions formed therein, the incisions in the two series bein alined transversely and so spaced longitudinally that each leg of each pm may extend through the card at one incision in each series, the incisions in one series being V-shaped with the point of the V on the axis of the series and the edges of the incisions forming oppositely inclined ipping elements eiective to prevent acci ental displacement of said pins.
