a citizen of the United States, residing at Elburn, in the county of Kane and `State Q Illinois, have invented certain new and use-` ful Improvements in Post-Molds, of which the following is a specification.
The mold which yis the subject 'of the present invention is designed for making concrete or artificial stone fence posts, and 'its object is to provide a simnlezand inexpensive mold by which the posts maybe rapidly and cheaply manufactured, and also to provide a structure which permits the manufacture of a number of posts at one time, a pluralityof mold units being provided, togetherwith simple and `eflicient means for clamping the several units together. These obj ectsare at-l tained by a novel combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter described, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- 1 Figurek 1 is a plan view of the mold.

As shown in the drawings each mold unit 10 is a trough or IU-shaped body of sheet metal, round or polygonal in cross-section, according to the desired shape of the post, and tapered toward one end. A number of these units are mounted side by side in position for use and supported in such position by means to be presently described. The units are placed with the taper reversed alternately. The drawing shows four units, but the number of units may be varied according to the number of posts to be made simultaneously.
The longitudinal rims of each unit 10 are beaded, one of the beads 11 being small and having a wire reinforcement 12, and the other bead 13 being more open and larger so as to form a hook which catches over the bead 11 of the adjoining unit, and thusacts as a means of support.
The frame which holds or supports the several mold units 10 herein described is constructed and arranged as follows: At the ends of the mold units are located wooden bars 15 having a rabbet 16 in the inner portion of their top edges. and they also serve to prevent spreading of the end bars 15 and hold the latter in place to support the mold units 10 therebetween.
An intermediate supporting member for` i' the mold units 10 is also provided. This member is a transverse bar or casting 23 having top depressions 24 in which the mold units seat. At the outer ends of this transverse support 23 are top depressions 25 in which the bars 20 seat and are thus supported intermediate their ends. On one side of each vprojecting end of the support 23 is pivoted, as indicated at 26, a latch bar 27 adapted to be placed across the adjacent bar 2O to assist the latches 22 in holding said `bar against outward displacement. The latch-bar is kept in holding position by` a spring 28, coiled around the shank of the pivot bolt 2.6.` This spring draws the pivot bolt tightly against the support 23, and the latter has a shoulder 29 against which the lower end of the latch bar abuts. In thisl position, the latch bar cannot be swung t0 release the bar 20, its upper end engaging the latter. To release the latch bar it must be pressed outward against the spring until it clears the shoulder 29, after which it can be swung away from the bar 2O as shown by dotted lines inFig. 4. When the latch bars are to be placed in holding position, a slight pressure must be exerted on the mold eectually serves the purpose for which it is designed. 1. In a post mold, a series of troughshaped mold unitsplaced side by side, end bars having a rabbeted top edge and a plate extending'a'bove the rabbet, ySaid plate having a notched top edge, and the mold units having end projections passing through the notches `of the platesand seating in the rabbets 'of the end bars, and means for holding the end'bars against spreading `"2.
