Description
UNITED STATESV PATENT OFFICE.
-IMPROVEMENT IN PLOWS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 109,250, dated November 15, 1870.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, LIONEL W. RICHARD- SON, of the town ot' Roscoe, in the county of Winnebago and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Plows; and I do hereby declare that the followingis a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and tothe letters ot reference marked thereon.
This invention consists of a double moldboard, one of iron and one of steel. The latter, being in sections, is secured to the former by means of bolts, as shown in the accompanying drawings making a part of this specification.
The object of this invention is twofold; first, that I may give the steel ahigher degree of temper than it would otherwise bear 5 secondly, any wornout section may be replaced without renewing the whole.
Figure l is a perspective view, showing the steel mold-board in sections, secured to the iron back by means of bolts marked A A A A A A, and the back is also secured to the lay by bolts marked B B. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the iron back,the holes in which marked o c c c c c and d d are filled by bolts marked A and B in Fig. 1.
I claim- The securing a steel mold-board in sections of various sizes and shapes to an iron back, by
means of bolts, or otherwise, in the manner andfor the purpose set forth.
