UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FREDERICK H. CYRENIUS, OF OSVVEGO, NEWV YORK.
FOOT-BRUSH.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 414,145, dated October 29, 1889.
Application filed April 12, 1889. Serial No. 306,934. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be itknown that I, FREDERICK ILCYRENIU s, of Oswego in the county of Oswego, in the State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Foot-Brushes, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention consists in a novel construction of a foot-brush which is simple, inexpensive, and yet strong, durable, and. efficient in its operation.
The invention is fullyillustrated in the annexed drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved foot-brush. Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section on line so a, Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a vertical longitudinal section on line y 3 Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate correspondin g parts.
A represents the base of the foot-brush, which base consists of a rectangular or elongated plate of wood or metal. To the end portions of said base are rigidly attached the cross-walls c c, which rest with their bases across the entire width of the base A, so as to effectually brace the same and prevent it from splitting when composed of wood. Between said cross-walls are arranged two longitudinal walls I) b, one or both of which are formed separately from the base A and aforesaid crosswalls, and one of said longitudinal walls is rigidly secured. to the cross-walls by screws or nails passing through the cross-walls and into the ends of the longitudinal walls or by any other suitable and well-known means. The other longitudinal wall 1) is inserted removably between the cross-walls, and in the elongated space surrounded by the four walls is inserted vertically the broom (l, which is clamped therein by ties t 25, extending transversely through the two longitudinal walls. Said ties may consist either of bolts provided with nuts or wooden pins into the ends of which are driven wedges e e, as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
As an improved article of inal'lufacture, a foot-brush composed of the elongated base A, crosswalls c c, resting with their bases across the entire width of the base A and rigidly attached thereto to brace the same, two longitudinal walls I) b, one of which is rigidly secured to the cross-walls and the other is inserted reinovably between the cross-walls, the broom insert-ed vertically in the space surrounded by the aforesaid walls, and ties t 15, extending transversely through the longitudinal walls, substantially as described and shown.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto sign ed my name this 8th day of April, 1889.
FREDERICK ll. CYRENIUS.- ['L. 8.]
