Description

W. H'. TUCKER. Stove-Truck.
No. 208,650. Patented Oct. 1, I878.
WIT-WESSES.
UNITED STATES WILLIAM H. TUCKER, OF INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA, ASSIGNOR OF ON E-HALF PATENT OFFICE.
HIS RIGHT TO ROBERT S. DORSEY, ()F SAME PLACE.
lM PROVEMENT IN STOVE-TRUCKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 208,650, dated October 1, 1878; application filed September 6, 1878.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. TUCKER, of the city of Indianapolis, county of Marion, and State of Indiana, have made certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Stove- Trucks, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which are made a part hereof, and on which similar letters of reference indicate similar parts.
Figure 1 is a top or plan view of my improved truck as seen when extended, as when in use. Fig. 2 is a similar view, except that it shows the truck in its most compact form, as when ready for shipping. Fig. 3 is a side elevation.
In said drawings, those portions marked A A and B B are two pairs of beams, each connected together by a suitable hinge, O, and which together constitute the frame-work of my improved truck. Each of the beams is provided with a suitable slot, and the inner end of one pair being laid across the corresponding end of the other pair, and the two pairs being connected by the bolts D D, which pass through the slots in the beams, and the whole structure being mounted on casters E E, the device is complete and ready for use.
Instead of attaching flanged metal plates to the outer ends of the beams A B to prevent the stove-feet from slipping, I form the depressions F F therein by cutting into their substance, which constitute a better means for accomplishing the purpose, and at a less expense.
The hinge O, I preferably construct by taking two small flat bars of metal, and connecting them to both sides of the beams by the rivets 0 a; but as there are many forms of hinge that will answer the purpose, this construction is not imperative.
This invention consists in so mounting adjustable beams on wheels or casters as to form a truck upon which stove-dealers may conveniently display and handle their wares, and its simplicity is such that a reference to the drawings will give a full understanding of its nature, and renders a further description of its construction unnecessary.
Having thus fully described my said invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The combination of two pairs of beams, each pair being hinged at one end and slotted, as described, and each beam of one pair being connected by a bolt to a corresponding beam of the other pair, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination of the beams A A B B, hinges G 0, bolts D D, and casters E E E E, all arranged and operating substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purposes herein specified.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal, at Indianapolis, Indiana, this 3d day of September, A. D. 1878.
WILLIAM H. TUCKER. [L. s.]
In presence of G. BRADFORD, WM. E. MOORE.
