Letters Patent No. 110,991, dated January 17, I871.
IMPROVEMENT l'N LUNCH-BOXES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent: and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern lie it known that I, Davin MILLER, of the city and county ot'I-Ulegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Lunch- Box, and I do hereby declare-that the following is afull, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my inventionconsists in providing the lunch-box hereinafter described with hinged partitions.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction.
In the-accompanying drawing which forms partof my specification- Figure 1, sheet 1, represents the several parts which form the sides and top of the box when spread out, showing their relations to the bottom and the manner of attaching the several parts together; 'also representing the hinged partitions turned down on the bottom.
Figure 2 represents the box with the several parts folded up so as to be carried in the pocket of the user.
Figure 5, sheet 2, represents a longitudinal and vertical section of the lunch-box. I.
Figure -I is a perspective view of the same, and represents the hinged partitions in dotted lines, showing their position and relation to the body of the box.
In the accompanying drawing- I A represents the sides of the. box, and
and c, which form the lid of the box.
The part of the lid 0 is provided with a broad hook,
parts I") f, which hooks into an opening, 71-, in the part D 01' the lid.
The partitions k are hinged to the bottom 0 at n.
The main feature of my invention is providing the lunch-box with partitions It, as hercinbet'ore described, whereby the box may be divided into several coinpartments, so that the user may keep several difierent articles in the box, and each article be completely separated fi'omeach other.
It will be observed that, by hingiug the partitions k to the bottom 0, as described, and shown in the acconipanying drawing, they may be folded 'down on the bottom 0 so that the box will only have one apart-' llltlul for the lunch, or one of the partitions may be folded down and the box will then have two apartments, and that when botlrpartitiorisare turned up, as shown by dotted lines in fig. 4, the box will have three apartn'ients.
Having thus described the nature, construct-ion, and advantages of my improvement,
\Vhat I claim as of my invention is The horcinbefore deseribcd lunch-box, provided with hinged partitions li'lrjas and for the purpose set forth.
