Be it known that I, N IoHoLAs J am, Jr., of Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination-Loop and Billet-Cover; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this speci-l iication, and in which- Figure 1 represents a perspective view of my invention as applied to a horse-collar, or any part of the harness or article to which it may be applied, and

Figure 2 is an inverted view of the same.

The nature of my invention consists in constructing ametal socket or receptacle with ears or ian ges, through which are inserted rivets, passing through, the-flap of -leather on a horse-collar, and entering a metal plate placed between the two parts of said flap, the object of said arrangement being to furnish a suitable and rigid fastening to sockets or receptacles for holding straps in place on a horse-collar, or other suitable article. To enable others to make and employ my invention, I will now prooeedto describe it. l

In the accompanying drawings, A A represent two metal sockets or receptacles, for vsecuring on'e end of the straps B.

These sockets are formed on each side of their front ends with ears or flanges bb, and on the lower side of the straps or iiaps D, by means of rivets, which enter the metal plates O C, above described.

Thus it will be seen from the above that I furnish a strong and durable fastening for strap-sockets made so, and different from those now in use, by riveting them,

The metal sockets or receptacles into which the straps B B are inserted, and provided with flanges b b and rivets b b', in combination with the straps D D and metal plates C C, all constructed, arranged, and operated as and for the purpose set forth.
