The purpose of this invention is to provide close-fitting and eomfortable underarments or drawersfor ladies* wear and to this end the garment is made in the general form of a bag closed at the bottom, with leg openings at the opposite vertical edges and having' an open top ada ited 'to eneircle the 'aist of the weare T e open to will be equpped with an e hetic elosure o suitable Construction, or with draw-strings, tapes or similar levi'eS,',\vl1er'eby the garment may be supported from' thenvaist of the wearer and yet easily and quickly lowered or removed whenever desred. i

It is made of such fabrie as desired and in the general form of a bag having a closed bottom, as at 2, and an open top, as at 3. About the opening 3 suitable elastie material as at 4, may be inelosed in a hem or otherwise attaehed or draw-strings may be employed in a manuer well known.

The bag-like body part is preferably enla'ged sonewhat at'abont the middle ot' its height, and extending thenee to the bottom, as Shown at 5, Leg openings (i, one at sach side, are provided, which will preferabty be finished with Some suitable oriainenting material, as luce, rullles, or the like, as shown at 7, 7.

In applyinz the garment, the wearer thrusts her legs through the open top 3, passing" one log through one of the lateral log openings and the other leg through the other leg opening, and as the garment is d'awn upwardl and fastened about the waist, or allow to so festen itself, if automatic elastie material is provided at the open top, the rotundity of the abdomen in front and the rearward projection of the seat of the wearer behind, plus the inward movement of the lower parts of the leg openings, cause the central part of the bottom of the bag-like., body part to move upwardly, gathering the material at the crotch, as shown in Fig. 2. y

It also combines the appear-:mee of a pettcoat with the eonfort and adaptability of a kniekerbocker and fits snngly about the leg above the, knee without the use of any elastie or equivalent device, to bind the wearer.

1. An nndergarment comprising a 'baglike body part having permaneutly closed front and rear portion and a eontinuous closed bottom, a substantially vertical contnuous log opening at each side near the bottom -and au open top .provided with means whereby the garment may be supported from the waist of the wearer.

2. An underrarment comprising a baglike do v'rwardly enlarging body part having a 'pern'anently closed front and rear por tion and a eontinuons closed bottom. a sul)- stantially vertical continuons log opening at each side. of the body part extending from the bottom thereof upwardly and means whereby the garment may be supported from its upper edge. i
