To all whom it may concern .de it known that l, AUSTIN a subject oia the King olf* Great Britain, residing at Asbury Bark, in the county of Monmouth and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Un K declare the following to be a full, clear, an enact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in undergarments, and more particularly to that class of garments known draweni` Plhe object oi' my invention is to provide a garment wherein the opening will remain closed at all times except when the wearer desires it to he opened.

Another object of my invention is to pro- M i vide a garment which will t closely to the hips and limbsat all times, an advantage which is so desirous at the present time, inasmuch as the styles requlre garments fi? which rit closely to the person of the wearer.

A further object of my invention is to provide a garment wherein the overlying portions will lie smooth at all times and will not cause undue wrinkles, etc., which would present an unsightly appearance.

A. still further object of my invention 1s to provide a garment of the above type which an apron or shield is 'adapted to be attached during certain periods, the apron of a waterproof fabric, which will protect the outer garments, etc.

Referring to the drawings by characters o?? reference, 5 indicates a limb receiving portion adapted to cooperate with the limb receiving portion 6. An .enlarged flap 7 is formed integral with the limb reoeiving portion 5 and is adapted to overlie a'similar the limb receiving portion 6. To the rear Hap 8 l preferably secure buttons l0, which are adapted to coperate with button-holes 11, whereby the garment is permitted to be removed. rlhese buttons are three'in number and one of said buttons isvsecured to one of the flaps immediately adjacent its end. Another of the buttons is placed substantially in the center of the ment and the third button waist band at a point substantially the same distance from the center button as the iirst rlhe buttonholes l1 are so placed in the coperating lap as to come into the proper position to receive the` respective buttons with which they coperate in holding the garment in position on the wearer.

. An a ron or shield l2, being substantially triangu ar in shape, is provided at its upper extremity with button-holes adapted to register with the buttons 10. This shield l2 is preferably made of a waterproof material, such as cravenetted cloth or a cloth similarly treated, but the use ofrubber for such water-profiling is entirely eliminated. lhe lower enlarged end of the shield l2 is preferably provided intermediate its width with darts 13, which are so arranged that gar- ` they take up the fullness at the edge thereof and make the shield lie closer to the wearer. rlhe upper end of the garment is preferably tapered inwardly to conform to the waist of the wearer, as indicated at 14. rlhus it will be seen that the garment, having once been adjusted to the desired size, it will be unnecessary to change the adjustment when either' removing or replacing the garment.

lWhile in the foregoing l have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, l Wish it to be understood that l `may change the speciic arrangements of parts Without, in any Way departing from the spirit and scope of my invention.

Having thus fully described my invention, what l claim is:

ln combination with an undergarment, comprising a limb receiving portion having a slit on its inner side, flaps formed on the receiving portions areA is secured to the side of tbe limb receiving portion/at tbe l upper extremity of the slit, a second limb receiving portion having a slit adjacent its upper endf flaps extencinfr laterally from l the upper extremities of tie slits, buttons 1 attached to the waist vband of the garment, one of said buttons being positioned adjacent the end of the second mentioned flap,

a button placed substantially in the Center of the garment and a third button attached to the Waist band of the garment substantially l the same distance from the center button as l the Erst mentioned button, the rst menll tioned flap having button-holes adapted to engage the button; a shield having buttonlioles at the upper extremity to engage the aforesaid button, and darts in the lower edge of said shield and adapted to cause sai shield to more closely engage the person of the wearer.
