IMPROVEMENT IN SASH-HLDERS.

The Schedule referred to iii these Letters Patent and making part o! the same.

To all whom 'it may concern:

Be it known. that I, ANDREW J. KRAMER, of Marion, in the county of Linn and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Window-sash Fastenings; and I do hereby declare that thefollowing-is a full, clear, and exact descrip-- tionvthereof, reference heilig hadto the accompany ing drawing andto the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specication.

The nature Of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a window-sash fastening, as will be hereinafter fully set forth;

ln order to enable others skilledin the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe it`s construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a front view of a window, part in section, showing my sash-istener; and

Figure 2 is a side view of the lever by which -the sash-fastener is Operated.

A represents the window=frame or casing; and

B, the sash.

-From the outer edge, at any desired point in vthe sashB, is made around hole, extending horizontally4 inward to near the inner edge, where the sash is only pierced suciently to allow of the passage of arod, a as shown. 1

C represents a lever of' the peculiar formation l shown in fig. l, one, end beingcurved in about the Vshape of a semicircle, and this curved end is slotted in the center around the bend to near the end.

The lerer C heilig turned down, allows Ithe spring c tothrow the bolt b outward and `fasten the window.

By raising the lever the curved portion thereof bears againstthe inner end of the sash, forming a changeable fulcruin for drawing the bolt inward, when Or, by turning the lever upward, as represented in the'draw ing, the bolt will be held drawn in, and, consequently, the window not fastened.

Having thus fully described .my invention,

\Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Let-- ters Patent, is-

The combination of rod a, bolt b, and spring e with lever C, when said lever is Vslotted and curved and holds the bolt withdrawn, in the manner described.
