Letters Patent No. 109,771, dated November 29, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN DOOR-H'OLDERS 0R CHECKS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent making part oi the same.
To all whom -it 4muy concern Be it known' that I, OTTO SLIKER, of Lincoln, iu the county of Logan and in the State of Illinois, have invented certain` new and useful Improvements in Door-Holder; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and 'to the letters of reference marked' thereon, making a part ot' this speccation.
My present invention is intended as an improvement upon the door-holder, patented by me J une 29, 1869, and consists in extending or prolonging the wooden knob so as to entirely incluse the springs, and
inthe construction cfa socket to be used wit-h the said springs. j In order to enable others skilled in theart to which my invention appertains to make and use the same;
tends out over the ends of the springs, preventing the breaking of the 'springs,and thetearing of dresses through a plate into the-door, defaeing the same.
Now I provide a socket,`D, having a beveled mouth 1 and a flange around its other end, through which screws pass to fasten it to the door. The springs enter into this socket, while the socket itself enters into the enlarged or prolonged end of the knob A.
The socket l) is attached to the door and serves as an ornament.
Having thus fully described my invention,

'Ihe combination of socket D, when the lat-ter passes within the recess in which are the4 ends of the spring, when constructed and arranged substantially as and for the lpurposes herein ,set forth.
