Description

P. NORRIS. Wagon Seat Fastening.
No. 105,832. Patented Jul zs, 1870.
N. PETERS. PlwTD-LHMOGRAHER. WASHINGTONv IIIv (L tinitd swat we Gtiblire FREDZNORRIS, or FREEDOM PLAINS, .NE wlYonK.
Letters Patent No. 105,832, dated Jaly 26, 1870.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same To all'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRED Nomus, of Freedom Plains, in -the county of Dutchess and in State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improyements in Wagon-Seat Fastening; and dohereby declare that the following is afull, clear, andexact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying'drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon n aking a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the con- *struction of a fasteningfor wagon-seats in such a mannerthatit will lock itself', and is not liable to break from any sudden jerk.
In order to enable others skilled in the art tov which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will-now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which--- ilhigure 1 is a perspective view of so mn'chof a wagomseat as to show the mode of fastening, and
lfigure 2 is an inside view of the fastening in the wagon-beds r Arcprcsents a portiolrof the wagon-bed, having, a "bent or angular plate, B, secured to it on the top and inner l side.
Within this plate, in the section A, 'is a recess, in "whichxis placed a spring, 0, fastened at one end, as ishownjnfig. 2, to the vertical portion of the plate. 'lfhe'other end of the spring 0 is provided with a'pin orlb'utton, D, passing through the side of the plate B The upper edge of the spring 0 bears againstthe under side of the horizontal portion of the plate B.-
Upon the side of the seat E is secured a-plate, G,
with a latch, H, projecting downward.
The latch H is inserted through a hole or slot in the horizontal portion of the bar or plate B, and by pressing down upon the seat it looks itself 'fast.
The seat is readily removed by pressing upon the button D. a
The spring, hearing or resting against the top plate, prevents it from getting broken by any sudden :Having 'thusfullydescribed my invention,
-- Wha't I clai1 n as new, and desire to secure by Letters Batent, 'is- The combination of the wagon-seat E, provided with themetalcase G,;- and under-projecting latch H, with thewagon-botly A, provided with the angular plate B, with a slot and perforation, as shown, and.inclosing the spring .0,- having-a button formed. on its end, which protrudes through the perforation, all substantially as set forth.'
In testimony" that I claim the foregoing,.I have hereunto set my hand this 4th day January, 18-70. FRED NORRIS.
