LAWRENCE I?. HARDY, OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, ASSIGNOR TO L. P. HARDY PRINT- ING COMPANY, OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, A CORPORATION OF INDIANA.
COUPON OR TICKET HOLDER.
To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, LAWRENCE P. HARDY, a -citizen of the United States, residing at South Bend, in the county of St. Joseph and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and `useful Improvements in Coupon or Ticket Holders, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to an improvement in coupon or ticket holders, of that type designed particularly for holding' coupon strips in a manner to permit the convenient separation of one or more coupons from the strip when desired. i
The invention has for its primary object the provision of a coupon holder constructed of two parts, stamped or otherwise formed from sheet metal, wherein provision is made for the convenient housing of the coupon strip in roll form, the separation of the holder parts for the initial insertion of the roll, for the securing of the roll in proper position in the act of properly assembling the parts of the holder, and for a compact and serviceable structure for the purpose designed.
The invention in the preferred form of details will be described in the following speciication, reference being had particularly to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a perspective view of the im- Fig. 2 is a vertical central section of the same. Fig. 3 is a rear elevation of the same. Fig. l is an edge view of the rear section of the holder. Fig. 5 is a front elevation of the holder complete. Fig. G is an edge view of the front section of the holder.
The improved holder is constructed of two parts, each preferably appropriately formed of sheet metal, one of said parts as 1 being hereinafter termed the front section, and the other of said parts as 2 being hereinafter termed the rear section. The front section l comprises a strip 3 of sheet metal of appropriate width and length, the side edges of which adjacent the upper end have integral projections i which are bent to overlie the rear surface of the strip, in spaced parallel relation thereto to provide tongues 5. Below the lower edges of the tongues the strip is bent to form a transverse sleeve like or cylindrical casing G, open at the ends and arranged wholly beyond the Specification of Letters Patent.

front surface of the strip. The rear section 2 comprises a strip of sheet metal 7 having a width corresponding to that of the strip 8, but a somewhat greater length than that of the strip 3. The lower edge of the strip 7 is bent to form an upwardly projecting tongue 8, having thefull width of the strip, and arranged in spaced parallel relation with the front surface of said strip. Above the tongue 8 the side edges of the strip 7 have integral projections 9, which are bent forwardly to provide holding sections, for a purpose which will later appear. The strips 3 and 7 are formed approximately centrally of their lengths and width with elongated openings 10, adapted to register when the sections are in holder forming relation, to`
provide accessibility to the coupon strip ll to elevate the same to permit disconnection of the coupon or coupons.
In the use of the holder the coupon strip, arranged in roll form is inserted longitudinally in the member 6, the free end of the strip passed through the longitudinal slit opening from said member and upwardly between the tongues 5. The section l is then connected with the section 2 by passing the former longitudinally of the latter, with the side edges of the section 2 underlying the tongues 5, the sliding movement being continued until the lower edge of the section l rests in rear of the tongue 8 of the section 9.. In this position of the sections the holding sections 9 overlie and partly cover the ends of the casing G, thereby preventing endwise separation of the coupon strip from such casing. The openings 10 provide a means by which the coupon strip l1 may be moved upwardly until the upper edge projects above the upper edge of the forward section l, whereupon the strip may be grasped and adjusted until any particular coupon division is in line with said upper edge and the projected coupons torn through the medium of such edge. The projecting portion of the rear section may be formed with an opening through which the holder as an entirety may be supported from a fixture.
From the above description, it will be apparent that I have provided a simple type of holder, particularly inexpensive to manufacture, and one comprising but two parts, the various details of structure insuring a compact serviceable holder possessing all the advantages and having all the functions necessary to such a device.
Vhat is claimed is l. A coupon strip holder comprising a front section and a rear section, means formed integral with the sections for preventing other than endwise separation thereof, the front section being integrally formed to provide a cylindrical casing disposed wholly in advance of the front face of said section, the rear section being integrally formed with projections adapted to partly close the ends of said casing when the sections are in holder forming relation.
2. A coupon strip holder comprising a front section and a rear section, the front section being formed with integral tongues projected in spaced parallel relation to the rear surface of such sections, said front section being further formed to provide an integral cylindrical casing opening at the ends and disposed wholly in advance of the said sur face of said section, the rear section having a width corresponding approximately to that of the front section, the lower edge of said rear section being formed with a tongue arranged in spaced parallel relation to the forward surface of said section, the side edges of the rear section being integrally formed with projections to partly overlie the open ends of the casing, when the sections are in holder forming relation.
3. A coupon strip holder comprising a front section and a rear section, the front section being formed with integral tongues projected in spaced parallel relation to the rear surface of such sections, said front section being further formed to provide an integral cylindrical casing opening at the ends and disposed wholly in advance of the said surface of said section, the rear sectionhaving a width corresponding approximately to that of the front section, the lower edge of said rear section being formed witha tongue arranged in spa-ced parallel relation to the forward surface of said section, the side edges of the rear section being integrally formed with projections to partly overlie the open ends of the casing, when the sections are in holder forming relation, the respective sections being formed in registering openings to permit the manipulation of the coupon strip.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
