DRAIN ATTACHMENT FOR WASI-IBOILERS.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FRANK A. E. Goon- ROAD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Canton, in the county of Lincoln and State of South Dakota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drain Attachments for VVashboilers, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to laundry appliances, particularly to wash-boilers, and has for its object the provision of a removable drain pan adapted to be secured upon a wash-boiler.

An important object is to provide a device of this character which is adjustable so that it may be secured upon boilers of diii'erent sizes, and which may be quickly and easily attached or removed.

Other objects and advantages such as simplicity, cheapness, durability and the general improvement ofthe art will be fully brought out in the following specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure l is a side elevation of the device attached to a wash-boiler, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view looking toward one end.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates a wash-boiler of any well known type provided with handles 2 and a rolled upper edge 3.

My improved drain is designated as a whole by the numeral at and comprises a curved wall 5 provided with handles 6 and a bottom 6* formed concave as shown. Secured across the forward end of the drain 4 as by soldering or riveting is a bar or strip 7 to which are secured a plurality of rods or wires 8 which are spaced from the bottom 6 and from one another, and are secured to the rear portion of the wall 5.

My improved adjustable bracket 9 by means of which the drain is secured to the boiler comprises a pair of strips 10 and 11 which are slidable upon each other and which are guided in their movement by guides 12 and 13 which are secured upon the strips 10 and 11, respectively. Angular pins 1 1 and 15 extend upwardly from the strips 10 and 11 and are engaged by fixed and pivoted arms 16 and 17 respectively, which are secured upon the bottom 6 of the drain.

The strips 10 and 11 terminate in angular portions 18 through which extend wing screws 19. It will thus be seen that the strips 10 and 11 may he moved longitudinally of each other to vary the distance between the angular portions 18 so that the bracket 9 will fit any width of boiler within reasonable limits. The screws 19 may then be adjusted to engage below the rolled edge 3 to prevent the removal of the bracket 9. After moving the pivoted arm 17 toward the center of the boiler, the drain may be placed in position with the pin 14 extending through the fixed arm 16. The pivoted arm 17 can then be moved to engage the pin 15. By this construction it will be obvious that the drain is adapted to fit over any size of boiler, and in the center or at either end of a boiler.

Having thus described my invention what I claim is:

1. In combination with a wash-boiler, a. drain, and means for releasably securing said drain upon said boiler, said means comprising a longitudinally extensible bracket provided at its ends with bent portions through which extend means engaging the rim of the boiler, an arm rigidly secured upon said drain and releasably connected with said bracket, and an arm pivoted upon said drain and releasably connected with said bracket.

2. In combination with a wash-boiler, a drain, and means for releasably securing said drain upon said boiler, said means comprising a bracket consisting of strips longitudinally slidable in relation to each other and provided upon their ends with angular portions extending over the top edge of the boiler, screws extending through said angular portions and engaging the rim of the boiler, angular pins secured upon said strips, an arm rigidly secured upon said drain and engaging one of said pins, and an arm pivotally mounted on said drain and engaging the other of said pins.
