Letters Patent No. 109,044, dated November 8, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN PIN-cusHloNs.

Be it known that I, MARCUS ORMSBEE, of' Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of N ew York, have invented a new and improved Pin- Cushion; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the saine, reference small, light, compact, and portable disk-shaped article.
Figure 1 represents one side view of my improved article, and
Figure 2 represents the other side.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A B are the two disks of tin-or other niet-al, or other suitable substance, of any preferred size, and united at the edges by a rim, C, formed by turning the edge of one over the other, in which case the overturned edge should be perforated to admit the passage of the pin, 'or they may be united in any other suitable way, so as to inolose between the said disks any packingsubstanoe, such as soft card-board, felt, or other suitable material, to fill a slight space between them and providea sutticieut space for the pins.'
`The rim C is perforatedwith small holes, to admit ofsticking pins readily into the case thus formed.
The disk A has an oval or other-formed hole at D, and a slit at E, whereby a picture, F, or ebusinesscard, or other advertising medium, may be inserted and held, so as to be observed through the hole D.
The other disk, B, has a curved slot, Gr', near the edge, through whichAis seen the letters signifying the days of the week, and arranged in proper order on a plate, which maybe shifted, and below the slot upon the surface of the disk is delineated the numbers for the days of the mouth, as shown at H, the whole forniing a perpetual calendar.
This improved article will be found very useful and valuable as an advertising medium for dealers in goods, which may be distributed to their customers with their cards in the place of' the picture. Its usefulness as a calendar and pin-cushion will induce therecipient to retain-it for use, thereby keeping the card before hiin.
Having thus described my invention,
I claim as new. and desire tocsecnre by Letters- Patent- As a new inunutiicture, the 4pin-cushion above described, consisting ofthe disks A and B, one provided witha pocket, and the other with a calendar, as described.
