Description

H. J. KATTENHORN. ADJUSTABLE MUSIC HOLDER. APPLIOATION'IILED APR. a, 1913.
Patented Dec. 30, 1913.
HENRY J. KATTENHOR'N, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
ADJUSTABLE MUSIC-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 30, 1913,
Application filed April 8, 1913. Serial No. 759,688.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HENRY J KATTEN- HORN, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Adjustable li lusic-l-lolders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to files or music holders and the principal object, of the invention is the provision of an adjustable holder which will effectively hold any quantity of music or other similar papers up to its limit without permitting the same to be come wrinkled, creased or otherwise damaged.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a holder of this character having an adjustable follower board provided with a flap which may be raised or lowered so as to permit the inspection of the titles of the papers held in the file.
Further objects of the invention will appear as the following description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this application, and in which Figure 1 is a side elevation. Fig. 2 is a front elevation. Fig. 3 is a detail vertical section on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, the file comprises a base board 1 and a back board 2 which is connected to the base board by means of a pair of angular tracks 3. These tracks are secured to the base board adjacent the side edges thereof near the front and to the back board adjacent the side edges, as shown. Slidably mounted upon the tracks, which are preferably constructed of metallic rods, is the follower board 4 which is apertured at its sides to receive the rod and is provided with set screws 5 entering said apertures and adapted to engage the rod to lock the follower board in adjusted position. The upper portion of the follower board has hinged thereto a con tinuation or flap 6 which, as shown in Fig. 3, is provided with depressions or sockets in its side edges, as shown at 7 to receive the inwardly projecting knobs 8 formed at the upper end of the arms 9. These arms are secured in any suitable manner to the side edges of the follower board and extend up above the same so as to bring the knobs in position to engage the recesses. The arms are of course constructed of resilient metal so that when the follower board is thrown to upright position the knobs will snap into the recesses, as will be readily understood.
lVhat is claimed is A file of the character described comprising a base board, a vertical back board connected thereto, horizontal tracks arranged above the base board and connected thereto and to the back board, a vertically disposed follower board slidably mounted on the tracks and having a hinged flap, spring arms projecting vertically from the side edges of the follower board above the same, inwardly extending lugs on said arms and recesses formed in the edges of the flap for receiving said lugs, whereby the flap is held in alined position with the follower board.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
