FRANK J'. COX, OF DODGE CITY, KANSAS.
SANITARY HOLDER FOB BARBERS CHECKS AND ACCESSORIES.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 4, 1913.
Application filed February 18, 1913. Serial No. 749,118.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK J. Cox, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Dodge City, in the county of Ford and State of Kansas, have invented a new and Improved Sanitary Holder for Barbers Checks and Accessories, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
An object of my invention is to provide a holder for the use of barbers, adapted to hold checks of varying amounts, and in addition, to hold various accessories, such as tweezers, curlers, lather papers, and such materials as styptic powder, face cream, and an antiseptic preparation, a camphor preparation, or the like.
A. further design of my invention is to make the holder of material and form that it will be sanitary.
A further object of the invention is to provide the holder with pockets of a form to contain a maximum number of checks, in a form to permit of the checks being conveniently withdrawn as required.
The invention will be particularly explained in the specific description hereinafter to be given.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both views.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the holder formed in accordance with my invention; and Fig. 2 is a transverse vertical section.
1 form the holder of cement, in order to promote its sanitary properties, and that it may be readily and thoroughly cleansed. The top 11 is made of a suflicient thickness to have certain depressions formed therein as hereinafter described, to receive various accessories, the holder below the top 11 being hollow. At the front the holder is extende forwardly to provide a check holder 13, which gives a broad base to the holder and locates the checks in a convenient position. The front 14 of the extension 13 is considerably below the back 15 of said extension, and extending from the front to the back are vertical partitions 16, between which are pockets 17, the bottoms of which are depressed, each pocket being adapted to recelve a series of checks 18 of different denominations. The upper edges of the partitions 16 incline upwardly and rearwardly from the front 14: to the back 15, so that ready access is afforded to the pockets, while at the same time the partitions prevent the checks from becoming mixed. The front walls 19 of the depressed pockets 17 incline upwardly and outwardly, by reason of which a top check is any pocket may be more conveniently grasped in withdrawing a top check of any particular denomination.
The back 15 of the extension 13 is oifset from the front 10 of the body 10, and a longitudinal, horizontal depression or groove 20 is produced behind the upwardly projecting end 15 of the back 15, which groove is adapted to receive tweezers, a curler, or the like.
In the top 11 there is formed a depression 21,
of a size and capacity to receive a supply of lat-her papers 22, the said depression being preferably nearer the back than the front, and at the transverse center, and around said depression a series of small, additional depressions or pockets 23 are formed in the top 11, certain of which depressions 23 may be closed by ornamental covers 24, to efi'ectively exclude dust.
The mentioned pockets 23 are adapted to hold different materials used by barbers, such as styptic powder, face cream and an antiseptic preparation. In a smaller additional depression or pocket 25 in the top, a camphor preparation in the form of a stick may be inserted.
By my improved device, the essential accessories of a barbers shop are conveniently and properly held in a sanitary manner and will be readily accessible for use. The holder. is in compact form and occupies a minimum space, while at the same time its elements are arranged so that the article is distinctly ornamental.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
A holder for barbers checks and accessories, consisting of a body having a front extension at the bottom, constituting a check holder, said check holder having a front wall and a back wall rising higher than the front wall, and partiti ns extending from the front to the back and having rearwardly name to this specification in the presence of and upwardly inclined upper edges, thfi twosubscribing Witnesses. sockets beinc de. oressed below 'theifrontwzt 't t hf the extelision and the inner surface at v FRANK d the front of each pocket inclining upwardly Vitnesses:
end rearwardly. J. M; KIRKPATRICK,
In testimony whereof I have signed my: T. E. YOUNG.
