IMPROVEMENT 1N noon-SPRINGS.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part cf the same.

To all whom 'it may concern l Be it known that I, MELVIN JmoKs, of Wallace, in-the county of Steuben and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements fin Door-Springs; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, andexact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon which form apart of this specification. The nature of my; invention consists iu theconstruction and arrangement of a door-spring, as will be hereinafter fully set forth. Y

In order to enable others skilled'in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the saure,

I v4will now proceed to describe its' construction and operation, referring tol the annexed drawing, in which- Figure l'is a front view; and Y Figure 2, a side view of my improved door-spring. A represents the door-frame; and B the door, hinged to the frame in the usual manner. Y

' In the center of the frame, above the door, is fastened a spring, C, made somewhat .in horseshoe form,-

the end nearest to the hinged side of the door being loose, while the other end is fastenedto the frame by a screw, a, and the spring further held bya wireloop b. l

f Along the upper edge of the front side of the door is another spring, D,`,whicl1A is fastened at the end farthest away from the hinges, while the end nearest the hinges is turned outward, as shown in iig. 2, and, at this end, 'is an upward-projecting pin, i, 4or the end of the'spring'may be turned upward to form this pin.

The springs C and D are connected by means of a roth-E, which rod is vattached to the loose end of the spriugC, and aloop, formed on its other end, is placed over the piu c'.

As the door B is opened the spring G spreads out and the loose end of the spring 1) is brought close to the door, so that the reaction of the two springs combined'will easily close the door, and keep itrn'ily closed...
