Application filed May 4, 1912.
Specification of Letters Patent.
atented Sept. 9, 1913.
Serial No. 695,117.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that l, Owen* Janes, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fall River, in the county ot' Bristol and State of lvlassachusetts, have invented new and tion is to provide a nozzle which may be readily attached to any type of :fountain syringe now on the market. ln the treatment oit diseases by elyster, it is found that an injection can not be properly made owing to the spasniodic action ot' tl i anal sphincter, and it Yis the object ot' this invention not only to provide a simple and etlicient attachmentbut lto also produce one which will give sutlicient rectal support, when used in sitting posture.
Further objects oit' this invention will appear as the :following` specitie description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, which forms a part oit this applization, and in which:-
Figure l. is a side elevation ot' the device. Fig'. 2 is a sectional view on the line oit Fig. l. Figi'. 3 is a similar view showing` the straight tube connection.
Re't'erring` more particularly to the drawing, l represents the body ot the device which is of substantial hell, or inverted, cup shape 't'orniation and is provided with a notch Q in its lower edge to receive or promote the passage ot' the rubber tube 3 which extends :trom the back or fountain, not shown. Projecting upwardly 'from the bellshaped body and merging smoothly into the ame is a nozzle el provided with the usual spray openings 5 and with the central bore t3 eonnnunicatinzg,Y therewith. 'Depending' 'from the upper portion ot the bell or projecting' thereinto is a nipple 7 having' its central bore 8 eommunicatiug with the bore in the nozzle. rlhis nipple is adapted to receive the end ot the hose in the ordinary manner.
In Fig. tl, the hose is shown removed 'from the notch 2 and projected directly in line with the nipple and nozzle. rlhis ligure is supplied simply to show that the device may be used in the ordinary manner olf syringe nipples without resting the same upon a support.
ln Ifile'. Q, the, bell-shaped body is shown as provided with a curved partition S which is adapted to prevent the tube 'trom kinkinpT where it emerges trom the body. y
lVllat is claimed isz- 1 A syringe attzuwhment comprising' a nozzle, a bell-shaped body secured thereto and merging' smoothly into the nozzle, and a` nipple extending` into the bell-shaped body, said bell-shaped body havinga tube receiving notch in its lower edge.
2. A syringe attachmenty con'iprising' a nozzle, a bell-shaped body secured thereto and merging smoothly into the nozzle. a nipple extending' into the bell-shaped body, said bell-shaped body having' a tube receiving' notch in its lower edge and a curved partition in said body to prevent kinlting' olf the tube.
ln testimony whereof 'l' atlix my signature in presence olf two witnesses.
