My invention has reference to what is commonly known as fountain or spray brushes such as are formed wholly or in part from india rubber or other analogous flexible material. Such brushes are usually combined with a rigid auxiliary backing member, such for example, as a hollow caslng or s rayhead, which serves to impart its rigidity to the body of the otherwise flexible brush in such a way and to such a degree' as to greatly impair the usefulness ofthe latter by -preventing it from adapting itself to the hollows and curves of the body of the user, thereby rendering it less eHective than it otherwise would be. v
The-object of my invention is to overcome this diiliculty which I am enabled to accomlish by the means hereinafter more particularly described and definitely pointed out in the claims.

Y' Referring to the drawings, 1 indicates generally a brush formed from india rubber or other similar material, having an upwardly extended inturned annular flange 2, formed thereon adapted to receive and clasp the usual hollow metallic or other non-flexible spray-head 3, which is provided with a vided I with outlet openings 6, to permit water to pass from the' head into the space 7 Fig. 3, between it and the body of the brush. The brush 1 is so constructed, in a well known way, as to permit water to pass therethrough from the space'7, preferably through teeth 8,-having ducts 9, therein in open commumcation with said space 7.
I do not wish to belimited tov the construction of the head nor to the manner of passing liquid from a source of supply 1 through the brush inasmuch as these tures may be varied without departing from the characteristics of the invention.
Formed on the brush is a lateral peripheral extension 10, which I prefer to have surround the entire body of the brush, said extension being provided with bosses or teeth 11, which may be varied in form, but by preference, are made solid, inasmuch as they, by reason of their close proximity to the water flowing from the central portion of the brush to said extension would be amply supplied therewith. The term teeth, in the claims, is intended to include variations in form. The entire portion of the peripheral extension being flexible, the brush will readily adapt itself to hollows and inequalities of the body, thereby rendering its use more agreeable and its cleansing operation more thorough and effective.
In Fig. 4, I have shown a modied construction in which the flange 2, is `shown as inclosing the casing 3, in the same way, while an extension 12, conforming in other respects to that shown in the other views, is shown only upon a portion of the periphery.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
1. A device of the class described comprising, in combination, a brush constructed to allow the passage of liquid therethrough, a hollow backing support formed to permit the passage of liquid from a source of supply to said brush, and a toothed elastic marginal extension upon saidy brush formed to extend beyond the edge of said backing to adapt itself, when used, to-irregularities of the body.
