LIF'IABLE BUBBLE-FOUNTAIN.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 18, 1913.
Application led February 16, 1912. Serial No. 677,953.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, FREDERICK GEORGE PARTINGTON, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Coeur dAlene, in the county of Kootenai and State of Idaho, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Liftable Bubble-Fountains, 0f which the following is a speciiication.
This invention relates to a liftable bubble drinking fountain, particularly adapted for use in connection with, and to be supported in operative relation to an ordinary sink.
It is a well known fact that the public drinking cup of the ordinary type is a menace to the health of the community, and the boards of health of many cities are prohibiting the use of such cups.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a jet or bubble nozzle or like body, connected by a flexible tube to the source of water supply at the sink, a continuous jet of water being discharged at the top of the cup, said cup being provided with a handle and supported by a bracket above the sink in such manner that the overiiow from the jet is discharged into the sink, there being suiiicient slack in the flexible tube to permit the jet to be lifted to the mouth of the user without uncomfortable bending, said flexible tube at this time passing up or down.
One embodiment of this invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which,
Figure l is a perspective view illustrating the invention with a portion of the sink broken away, and Fig. 2 is a vertical section through the cup.
Like numerals designate corresponding parts in all of the figures of the drawing.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral 5 designates a sink, 6 designates an L-shaped support, the vertical leg of which is secured to the wall at the back of the sink and the horizontal leg of which is provided at its outer end with a ring like terminal member 7 A water supply pipe 8 supplies water to a flexible tube 9. The outer end of this tube is connected at 10 to the bottom of a jet member 11. A handle 12 provides means for lifting the jet member 11 and said jet member is surrounded by an annular rib 13 which rests upon the ring like member 7 to thereby support the jet member 1l upon said ring member. To provide for the ready connection of the tube 9, with the water supply pipe 8, a pipe coupling 14 of ordinary construction is provided upon the end of the tube 9 and may be connected to the supply pipe 8, or may be connected to a faucet in the usual and Well known manner. The cup like member 10 is of much the shape of a dipper, except that it has a top closure l5 which carries a discharge nipple 16. It is apparent that a continuous bubbling et of water will be dischargedfrom the nipple 16, and that by virtue of the very simple structure herein shown and described, these devices may be supported in operative relation to an ordinary sink, and the cup member may be readily lifted to the lips of the user, as has been hereinbefore 'set forth.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that simple and efficient means are herein provided for accomplishing the objects of the invention, but while the elements shown and described are well adapted to serve the purposes for which they are intended, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the precise construction set forth, but includes within its purview such changes as may be made within the scope of the appended claim.
Having described my invention, what I claim is v In a device of the character described, the combination with a sink, of a bracket supported above said sink, said bracket terminating in a horizontally disposed ring like member located above said sink, a dipper like cup member comprising a cover having a discharge nipple therein, an annular rib extending around said cup member adapted to seat upon said ring like member, a flexible supply tube connected to the bottom of the cup like member, and a handle upon the cup like member, said supply tube passing through the ring like member when the cup member is lifted therefrom. y
In testimony whereof I aiiiX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
FREDERICK GEORGE 'PARTINGTON.
