Be it known that I, ROBERT C. BUTTON, a citizen of the United States, and resident of the city of Centralia, in the county of Lewis and State of l/Vashington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements. in Bath- Brushes, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in bath brushes, and comprises the novel parts and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the claims.

The object of my invention is to improve and simplify such devices.

In the accompanying drawings I have shown my invention in the form which is now preferred by me.

Figure 1 is a back view of the brush. Fig. 2 is a side view, part being in central longitudinal section. Fig. 8 is a side view of the brush end of the handle. Fig. 4 is an end view of the brush end of the handle. Fig. 5 is a back view of one of the detachable brushes. Fig. 6 is an edge view of one of the detachable brushes.

My invention consists of a brush designed for use in connection with a supply of water delivered through a hose, and is provided with means for delivering the water into and among the bristles of a brush.

The handle 1 consists of a tube adapted to have a hose attached to one end for the supply of the water. The opposite end is constructed for the attachment of a brush or brushes, 3, 3, for use in brushing and scrubbing the body.

I prefer that the brush be made in two parts, one at each side of the handle, as is shown in the drawings. I also prefer that the handle be somewhat flattened where the brush is attached, as is shown in the section 10. The section 10 has holes 11 near the front or face side from which the water is discharged into the bristles of the brush. I also prefer that the brushes be made detachable, so that different grades of brushes may be used upon the same handle, and so that the change from one brush to another may be quickly made. The preferred means for accomplishing this result is to provide the handle with side extending arms or pins 4, which at their outer end are turned sharply at right angles forming terminal sections 40 which are adapted to enter holes 30 in the back of the brushes. These arms 4 are small enough to have a slight spring action and the holes in the back of the brushes are so spaced from their edge that the arms will spring slightly when the brushes are put in place, from which it follows that the brushes will be securely held thereby. Two arms are used for each brush section, thereby holding it firmly. The end of the handle opposite that having the brushes secured thereto is provided with a plug cock 2, so that the water supply may be controlled from the brush.

The brushes may be provided in several grades of stiffness, from which it follows that the device may be used with satisfaction by difierent people having widely differing tastes in this regard. Also, it is possible for individuals to have their own special brushes which are not used by any one else.

The plug cock 2, instead of a device for pinching the rubber tube, is a more positive and quicker means for controlling the flow of water. It is also convenient to the hand of the bather.

The handle may be made of any desired length and is preferably given a slight curve, as shown, tomake it fit about the form of the bather and be easier to apply to the back.

What I claim as my invention is:

1. A bath brush comprising a hollow handle through which water is supplied, brush securing arms projecting lamrally from each side near one end of said handle, a brush member divided into right and left halves along the median line, each half thereof having holes in its back adapted to receive the brush securing arms and to be thereby held with its side in engagement with the handle, said handle having holes adapted to discharge water into the brush when the brush is in place.

2. A bath brush comprising a hollow handle adapted to supply water to the brush, a valve controlling the water supply, located at one end of the handle, a brush member divided into separate and distinct halves, and means for detachably securing a half of said brush at each of the opposite sides of the end of the handle opposite said valve, the

handle having holes adapted to discharge water into the brush when in place.

8. A bath brush comprising a handle, arms projecting laterally from and near one end of the handle and then bending sharply at right angles, two brushes, each having a straight side adapted to lie against the handle and having holes in its back adapted to receive the bent ends of said arms to be thereby secured to the side of the handle, and means for delivering water into said brush.

4. In a bath brush, in combination, a tubular handle provided at one end for the attachment of a water supply tube and with a valve for controlling the water supply, the other end of the handle being slightly flattened and provided with water discharge holes adapted to throw jets outward at opposite sides of said flattened portion, arms projecting oppositely from the opposite edge of said flattened portion and in a plane In testimony whereof I have hereunto fif-;
