LIITHER H. TRIESCI-IMANN, OF HARTFORD. CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO FRANK W. WESTERVELT, 0F HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT.
SWIVEL-HOLDER FOR RAZOR-STROPS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Lu'runn I-I. lnmsoi-r- MANN, a citizen of the United States of America, and resident of Hartford, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Swivel-Holders for Razor- Strops, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention more particularly pertains to an in'iproved swivel holder for razor strops, although the same is available for utilization for other uses.
The object of the invention is to provide an improved swivel suspension holder for one or more 'azor strops or other strap like articles which is of extreme simplicity, inexpensive of manufacture and susceptible of quick and easy connection with and detachment from the articles which are to be held thereby,
The invention is described in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and is set forth in the claims.
In the d 'awings :Figure 1 is a face view of the device with a razor strop engaged therewith and to be supported thereby. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view on line 2-2, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the device showing changed relations of the parts for permitting connection or disconnection of the holder with or from the strop. Fig. .1-. is a perspective view of the razor strop holder substantially in accordance with the present invention but slightly modified in respect to minor features of construction.
In the drawings, A and B represent a pair of opposed frames formed of wire both having straight upper members a a thereof arranged in parallelism, the side members of one of the frames, for instance, the rear frame A being formed with coils Z) 5 which extend right angnlarly to the general plane of the frame and are adapted for engagement through the razor strop and operable to prevent swinging or rocking movement of the strop relatively to such frame; and the said frame is also made with an eye member (Z which projects at right angles to the general plane of the frame and is adapted to extend through the thickness of the strop m, which latter is made with a slit or perforation therefor.

the edge portions thereof bent around to constitute hinge forming tubes f, and which so formed portions have engagements with the parallel upper members a a of the rear and front frames,
The second one B of the frames has a finger or member 5 which is located in the general plane of such frame B and is adapted for a detachable engagement in the aforesaid strop penetrating eye member (Z.
l5 represents a suspension member swivelconnected to thi aforementioned sheet metal plate I) to which the rear and front frames are hinge connected, the same being in the form of aclosed eye or a hook as preferred.
The razor strop being slitted or perforated at suitable points, the rear frame A is placed against the back of the strop and the pair of coils 7) b protrude through those slits which are made therefor, while the eye member (l protrudes through the slit or perforation which is made for it.
The link-like and hinge-forming plate D being swung to the position indicated in Fig. 3, the finger or member 9 having its extremity below the eye member (Z may, on the inward swinging of the frame B, be carried to alinement with the opening through the eye member and then by an upward movement of the frame B the member 9 will be broiilght to engagement through the eye member; and under the weight of the strop and the strain which may be imposed thereon the certainty of the engagement is increased and the liability of any accidental disengagement is precluded.
In the construction shown in Fig. 4, very slight departure from the construction represented in the other figures is illustrated, viz: The rear frame A instead of being made at its bottom with a centrally located forwardly protruding eye member is made with a pair of forwardly protruding eye members (Z (F, at the lower corners thereof, and the forward frame B is constructed with duplicated eye engaging fingers 9 As manifest various changes, or inversions or reversals of arrangements may be made without departing from the defined invention or sacrificing any of the advantages thereof.
I claim 1. In a device of the character described, a pair of frames adapted to lie on opposite sides of a strop, means for hingeconnecting one frame with the other whereby the one frame may have a swinging motion outwardly relatively to the other frame,-one of said frames having angularly projecting members adapted to extend through the strop and operative to prevent swinging movements of the strop relatively to such frame, and said frames having detachably interengaging parts, that of one frame being adapted to extend through and beyond the strop, and to receive that of the other frame.
2. In a device of the character described, a pair of opposed frames formed of wire, having straight upper members thereof arranged in parallelism, the side members of one of the frames being formed with coils extending right angularly to the general plane of such frame, and adapted for engagement through the razor strop and to prevent swinging or rocking movement of the strop relatively to such frame, and such frame being also made with an eye member projecting at right angles to the general plane of the frame and adapted to extend through and beyond the strop, a. sheet metal plate having the edge portions thereof bent around and having engagements with the parallel upper members of said frames, the second one of the frames having a member located in the general plane of such frame and adapted for a detachable engagement in the said strop-penetratingeye member,
and a suspension member swivel connected to the said sheet metal plate.
3. In a device of the character described, a plate, a suspension member swivel connected to the plate, a pair of frames hinged to the opposite parallel sides of the plate, one of the frames having at the outer edge a finger projecting toward the said plate in the same plane as the frame, the other frame having an eye extending perpendicular to the frame and lying in a plane par allel with said plate, and adapted to penetrate the strop and to receive said finger to lock the device to the strop.
at. In a device of the character described, a plate, a suspension member swivel connected to the plate, a pair of frames hinged at the opposite parallel edges of the plate, one of the frames having at its outer edge a pair of fingers projecting toward said plate in the same plane as the frame, the other frame having a pair of eyes extending perpendicular to the frame and lying in a plane parallel with said plate, and adapted to penetrate the strop'and to receive said fingers respectively to lock the device on the stro-p.
