To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, FREDERICK E. STEIN- BRUNN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Copy-Holders, of which the follow ing is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in copy holders, the object of the'invention being to provide a copy holder which can be readily taken apart so as to occupy but small space, and which, when put together will be neat and attractive in appearance and will most efliciently perform the functions for which it is intended.

A further object is .to provide a copy holder having improved means for connecting the supporting plate to its standard which permits a ready adjustment of the plate on the standard and secures the plate at any adjustment.

A further object is to provide improved means for holding the copy, permitting the pages to be turned, and held against accidental movement.

With these and other objects in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts.as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.

In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective View illustrating my improvements. Fig. 2 is a viewin transverse section through the supporting plate taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a view in rear elevation, and Fig. 4: is a View in transverse section on the line H of Fig. 3.

1 represents a supporting base which is preferably of the general T-shape shown to prevent tilting of the copy holder in any direction and which is provided with two sockets 2 adapted to receive the lower ends of an improved wire standard 3.

The standard 3 is composed of a single piece of wire bent midway between its ends forming parallel members 4:, 4, the ends of which fit in the sockets 2 and are readily removable as occasion may require. The upper end of the standard 3 is rearwardly offset as shown at 5 so as to form a stop and limit the upward movement of the supporting plate 6 and also form a convenient handle to manipulate the copy holder. Plate 6 may be of any material, and is preferably provided in its lower edge with a ledge 7 which'may serve as a support for a copy sheet. A block 8 is secured to the rear face of plate 6 and is made with longitudinal grooves 9 receiving the members 4:, 4 of standard 3. A turn-button 10 is pivotally connected to block 8 by means of a screw 11 and operates to frictionally bind the members 4, 4 in the grooves 9 of block 8 so that while the plate can be adjusted on the standard, the frictional contact is sufficient to prevent accidental movement.

The rearwardly offset portion 5, above re ferred to, is engaged by the button 10 which limits the upward movement of plate 6 on the standard and prevents the accidental disconnection of the plate from the standard.

A spring-tongue 12 is secured to the upper portionof plate 6 and operates to hold a note book 13, or other copy, against the plate. It. wire frame 1 1 is secured to the tongue 12 at its point of attachment with plate Sand .is made with a laterally projecting finger 15 above the upper edge of plate'G so that the pages of the note book 13 can be held after they are folded over the upper edge of the plate.

16 represents afollower which constitutes a portion of a finger clamp 17, the latter of the spring variety which engages the plate 6 and can be manually moved along the edge of the plate to adjust the follower on the copy.

Various slight changes may be made in the general form and arrangement of parts described without departing from my inven tion and hence I do not limit myself to the precise details set forth, but consider myself at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly wall within the spirit and scope of the appcnded'cla-im.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

A copy holder, comprising a base having a pair of sockets therein, a standard-comprising asingle wire bent forming two parallel members, the lower ends of which are adapted to be removably supported in said sockets, the upper end of said standard bent rearwardly, a supporting plate, a block on the rear face of said supporting plate having a pair of parallel grooves therein receivmg the members of the standard, a turn-button secured to the block between the grooves of the latter and binding the standard in the grooves, said rearwardly bent portion of the standard operating to limit the upward movement of the plate on the standard.
