JOHN SHEARER, OF FORESTVILLE, NEWYORK.
GRAPE-TIE HOLDER.
1 '0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, Jo1iN Slimline, a citizen of the United States, residing at l orestville, in the county of Chautauqua and State of New York, have invented new and I useful Improvements in Grape-Tie Holders,
of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to grape tie holders and benders and the object of the invention is the provision of a simple, cheaply constructed, and efficient device of this character by which the ties when extracted from the receptacle may be conveniently bent into hairpin shape, the shape being most convenient for application to the grape vines.
Further objects of this invention will appear as the following specific description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this application, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective View of the clevice. Fig. 2 is an elevation of one of the wires after being bent.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, 1 represents a receptacle having suit able strap receiving loops 2 secured at its opposite ends and a substantially U-shaped bending member 3 secured to one of the sides. This bending member extends up above the sides and has its separate legs forwardly and downwardly bent, as shown at t, to provide hooks. The legs are separated a suflicient distance to permit the insertion Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed April 12, 1912.

of the finger between the same so that a wire tie may be grasped in the receptacle and raised therefrom into engagement with the hooks, as will be readily understood. The
hooks form separated bearing members or abutments and by continued pull upon the wire as it is withdrawn from the receptacle, the same will be drawn between the abut ments and be bent into hair-pin form as shown in Fig. 2. In this form, the ties may be conveniently placed around the grape canes and their supporting frames and their ends twisted so as to support the canes upon the frames. The strap loops 2 are adapted to receive the shoulder straps as shown whereby the receptacle may be supported upon the body.
What is claimed is:- I
A grape-tie holder and bender, comprising a receptacle, strap-supporting loops carried thereby, and a U-shaped tie-bending member secured to one side of the receptacle and having its terminals bent inwardly and downwardly over the receptacle, said member having its legs separated sutliciently to permit the insertion of the fingers therebetween.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence 01 two witnesses.
