Description

April 3, 1928.
E. HERZOG REG IN VEN TOR.
A TTORNE Y Patented Apr. 3, 1928.
UNITED STATES EUGENE HERZOG, OF GOLDEN VALLEY, NORTH DAKOTA.
DISPLAY DEVICE FOR GOODS AND PRICES.
Application filed August 19, 1926. Serial No. 130,178.
My invention relates to a display device and the object is to provide a simple, inexpensive and efficient device adapted to be slidably' supported on a horizontally arranged bar and having one or more clasping devices of which a lower one engages goods and articles to be displayed and an upper one engages and holds a card or ticket indicating the price and also other information if so desired about the goods or articles suspended in the lower clasping device.
My device is formed of a single integral piece of wire forming the upper and lower clasping jaws and also pressing elements for opening the jaws while they receive the goods.
In the accompanying drawing:
Fig. 1 isa side elevation of a suitably supported horizontal bar and one of my clasping devices mounted thereon and holding an article and a price indicating card above it.
Fig. 2 is a section on the line 22' in Fig.1.
Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 2 showing the device pressed by the fingers so as to open the goods holding jaws.
Fig. 4 is a view showing the clasping .device further modified and improved for holding various forms of articles, a purse being shown.
Fig. 5 is a modification of Fig. 1.
Fig. 6 is an end view of Fig. 5. V
Fig. 7 is a side view of another modification and Fig. 8 is a section on line 8-8 of Fig. 7.
Referring to the drawing by reference numerals, 5 designates a horizontal bar which may be suspended by chains 6 or other hangers, or secured to a pair of posts or uprights (not shown). The bar may be simply a wire or cable.
Each clasping device is formed of a single piece of wire, of which each end portion, 7 in Fig. 1, forms a press button 8 while the body of the wire forms the lower resilient clasping jaws 9 in which the goods, such as the article 10, is held and the upper jaws 11, between which the price ticket 12 is held frictionally between the jaws.
Each jaw 9 having its wire bent at 9 and from that point returned upwardly, it forms two slightly spaced parallel segmental bearings 13, which guide loosely against one side of the bar 5, while similar bearingson the other jaw meet loosely against the opposite side of the bar. Said lower jaws are bulged apart at 14 while in the modification Fig. 4 they are also be more capable of holding various forms of goods. Thus in Fig. 4 is shown how the handle 15 of a hand bag or purse 16 may be held in the jaws, and of course various other articles may be thus held in the small or large spaces between the jaws.
Each clasping device may be resilient enough to be placed on or removed from the bar without passing it over one end of the bar, although it may also be passed in and out over the end of the bar in such a position that it straddles the hanger 6.
In Figs. 5 and 6 is shown how I may place movable'rings 17 on the bar 5 and from each of such rings suspend wires 18 having their lower ends formed with hooks 19 in which are easily and removably placed either the loop 13 or the ring shaped jaws 11 of my goods and ticket holding device proper.
In Figs. 7 and 8 is shown that instead of a ring 17 I may use a piece of sheet metal .20
arched over the bar 5 and secure the wires 18 to the parts of the arch depending at both sides of the bar.
What I claim is:
1. In a price tag and goods holder of the class described a vertically disposed single wire device comprising a coil spring top part, clamping jaws formed below said top and directed downwardly and arranged to be spread in a plane at right angles tosaid coiled top and to spread the coils of the latter when said jaws are spread, said jaws formed of two arms of said wire coil extend ed downwardly to the terminus of each arm thence upwardly and directed horizontally past the opposite jaw to form a shoulder, and thence downwardly to form a presser arm each arranged just below said top coil corrugated as at 145, so as to and adjacent the upper part oir' the adjacent EUGENE HERZOG.
