BATHING-CAP.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, AARON STERN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Bathing-Caps and the Process of Making the Same, of which the following is a specification.

The object of my. invention is to provide a device of this class which is made of one piece of sheet Para rubber or similar material, so made and disposed as to be absolutely watertight, light, durable, elastic and eflicient. Also the process of making the same by which the rubber dough or similar material, is made in sheet form, shaped and vulcanized so as to produce the cap. Here-- inafter, when the term Para rubber is used this is understood as including similar material.

For a more particular description of my invention reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof, in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a cap on a woman showing how it is worn. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of a cap, partially in section. Fig. 3 is a front elevation of the same. Fig. 4 is a side elevation of a modification. Fig. 5 is a front elevation of the same. Fig. 6 is a perspective view of the dough of Para rubber dam partially shaped preparatory to vulcanizing.

Throughout the various views of the drawings, similarreference characters designate similar parts.

My improved cap 1 is formed by taking a substantially rectangular sheet of what is known as rubber dough and gathering the ends as shown in Fig. 6. These ends may be folded'against the sheet or allowed to stand out, the cap of Figs. -1, 2 and 3 is made the former way, and the cap of Figs. 4 and 5, the latter. are folded as shown at '4: and the ends made as above described the ca may be vulcanized. In the form shown 1n Figs. 1, 2 and 3 a rosette 5 is added which may be the same material as the remainder of the cap or a dliferent' material, of the same color, or a different color. It is preferably made of a material that can be vulcanized, but this is not essential as it may be added after vulcanization. In Fig. 5 is shown a ring which is attached for this purpose, but my invention i not limited to any particular form.

In all embodiments of my invention the cap 1 is made with one integral sheet 6 with plait-s 7, a hem or inturncd edge 4 and gathered ends.

When in use the cap is worn as shown and fits the head of the wearer with a snug fit the plaits 7 enabling it to fit snugly regardless of the amount of hair of the wearer so that no water can reach the hair under any circumstances, the cap being elastic and w-ater-proof for this purpose.
