Be it known that I, ALBERT R. CAMPBELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Danville, in the county of Vermilion and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in I-Ioodwinks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to new and useful improvements in what is known as hoodwinks, and my object is to provide a reversible hoodwink and a sanitary removable section therefor, which is adapted to be used but once and then destroyed.

A further object is to provide means for temporarily securing the removable section to the hoodwink.

Other obj ects and advantages will be hereinafter referred to and more particularly pointed out in the specification and cla-im.

In the accompanying drawings which are made a part of this application, Figure l is a perspective view of a hoodwink showing the removable section applied thereto. F ig. '2 is a perspective view of one portion of the hoodwink showing a portion in section7 and Fig. 3 is a plan view of the removable section.

Referring to the drawings, in which similar reference characters denote corresponding parts throughout the several views, 1 indicates the hoodwink proper, comprising a covering l, and filling lb therein.

The central portion of the hoodwink is preferably reduced in size and rounded as shown at 3, so as to properly fit over the curvature of the bridge of the nose, while the ends thereof are somewhat fiattened.

For securing the hoodwink to the head of the wearer I provide each end thereof with a fastening cord 2.

It has been found in practice that diseases of the eyes are frequently spread by the use of hoodwinks and in order to obviate any possibility of such occurring even with the continued use of the hoodwink, I provide a removable section Ll, the general outline of which is somewhat similar to the hoodwink. rI "his section is preferably medicated or treated to render the same absolutely sanitary and when used is placed on the face of the hoodwink and in position to spread over the eyes of the wearer, the central portion of the removable section being also constricted to correspond to the constricted portion of the hoodwink.

rlhe removable section is temporarily secured in position on the hoodwink by means of a band 5, which band is preferably elastic so that it can be readily extended over the larger portions of the hoodwink and section thereon when it is desired to apply or remove the section, but instead of using the elastic band, a string or like device may be used for holding the section in place on the hoodwink. Instead of moving the band 5 toward the end of the hoodwink in order to apply the section, the end of the section may be introduced through the band and moved longitudinally therethrough until the section is properly positioned on the hoodwink, when the band will serve to hold the section in position.

The removable section can be very cheaply manufactured and when used once can be destroyed, thereby preventing the spread of any disease of the eyes from one person to another by the use of the same hoodwink upon different persons.

The hoodwink proper' is so constructed as to allow the removable section 4 to be positioned upon either side thereof, thus providing a reversible hoodwink.

It will further be seen that the section can be easily and quickly applied to use and by providing the elastic band will be securely held in position until such time as it is desired to remove the same.
