LAMP-GUARD.
A further object is toprovide a knock-. down lamp guard which can be easily and quickly assembled and locked in position about an electric lamp.
According to this invention the lamp guard is made in detachable sections, each complete in itself, and having means for quickly and detachably securing the sections together and locking them about thelamp bulb. When detached the sections can be fitted within each other and thus packed in much smaller space than when the guard ismade as one unit. a

tion and combinations of (parts hereinafter more particularly describe and then specified in the claims.

The lamp guard surrounding and protecting the bulb 2 is made in preferably two sections, each a duplicate of the other, although it will be understood that the guard may be ,made up of more than two sections if desired and without departing from thespirit of the invention. Each head 4 is provided with a tongue 7 projecting outward and terminatingm an upturned end or hook and is also rovided with an opening 8' in such ositlon that whenthe heads 4 of the guar sections are brought together edge to ed e the hook end of the tongue of one hea will pass up through the opening 8 in the opposite or companion head of'another section and thus' fasten the sections to ether. An offset 9 in the meeting edge 0 each head alongside the tongue 7 and in line with the opening 8 allows for the shank of the tongue and permits the edges of the head to come' into close contact.
When the sections of the lampard are hooked together by the heads 4, t e clamping bands 5 are fastened together and clamped about the lamp socket 1. While,
as regards the generic invention, I .do not limit myself to any particular means forsecuring and clamping the band 5 about the lamp socket, I nevertheless preferably-employ a lockfasteneror screw for fastening this end of the sections to ether so that. the guard cannot be remove from the lamp without the use of a special form of key. Preferably each semi-circular band or clamping member 5 terminates at each end in a radially disposed car 10, one of the ears of each member having a screw 11 suitably fastened thereto and the other being' provided with a screw-threaded hole adapted to receive the threaded shank of the screw lljof the clamping member of the other guard section when the sections are broughttogether. It-will be noted that the guard sections are each duplicates of'the other and when knocked down will fit within each other to economize space in packing and storage. Also that the various parts'of the framework or cage of each section are securely fastened together when detached from any other section and by the detachable fastening means shown become securely united into a complete and rigid guard when assembled.
The two sections of the guard are assembled by first inserting the tongues"? into the openings 8, the other ends of the sect-ions being separated to insert the tongues in the holes, after which the free ends of the sections are closed about the lamp socket or support by turning the sections about the interlocked heads as a pivot, the shape of the tongues serving to hold the sections together through a greater or less angle.
It will be understood that my invention'is not limited to the various details of construction as shown and described but various LOBBAW modifications and equivalents might be resorted to without departing fromthe spirit thereof as set out in the appended claims.
What I claim as my invention is 1. A lamp guard comprising two units en-o tirely separable from each other and each;
consisting of a rigid framework, and-means for detachably securing said units to each other and to a lamp socket.
2. A lamp guard consisting of sections bodily detachable from each other, each secother ends of the sections to the lamp support.
3. A lamp guard comprising detachablesections, each section comprising a series of wires secured at one end to a common head, a tongue and slot devlce adapted todetachably secure the heads of the sections to each other and meansadapted to fasten the other ends of the sectionsto a lamp support.

A lamp guard comprising duplicate longitudinal sections adapted to. be entirely detached from each other to fit one within the other, and each section comprising'a wire framework 'having a common head at one end and a clamping member'at the other, means for detachably securing the heads of the sections together and means for locking the clamping members about a lamp socket.
