4 Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed February 12, 1912. Serial No. 677,126.
Patented Feb. 11,1913.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OSKAR J. JOHNSON, a citizen of.Sweden, residing at Colquet, in the county of Carlton and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Service-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in service holders and more particularly to devices of this class intended for individual use.
Simplicity, neatness and durability are alnong its objects.
With the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists in the combina- "tion and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter fully described in the following specification, pointed out in the claims and illustrated in the accompanying; drawing which forms a part of the specification and in which Figure l is a view in elevation of my improved device in use. Fig.2 is a view in perspective. Fig. 3 is a plan.
Like reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
1 is the base of my improved service holder which may be of any desired shape and upon which is secured the trilateral shell or body ortiono2 within which a three-leafed spring 3 is secured as at 4 to the base 1. Either leaf of the spring 3 is parallel to one side of the shell 2 and of approximately the same height as that side and the upper or free extremity of each leaf is inclined inwardly or toward the center of the spring.
The construction of the holder is such that one piece of silverware may be inserted between one leaf and the adjacent side of the shell and by that leaf frictionally held in position until ready to be removed for use The inclination given the top of each leaf is to afi'ord ample clearance for the insertion of a piece of silverware.
What I claim is 1. In a service holder, a base, a trilateral shell disposed upon said base and a threeleafed spring, whose leaves are each parallel to one of the sides of the said shell, secured to the said, base.
2'. In a service holder, a base, a trilateral shell disposed upon said base and a threeleafed spring, whose leaves are each parallel to one of the sides of the said shell and whose free extremities are curved inwardly, secured to the said base.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my. own I havehereto afiixed my signature in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
OSKAR JUSTUS JOHNSON. Witnesses:
