CHARLES HUDSON SNIDR, 0F CONWY, SOUTH CAROLINA.
LAMP ATTACHMENT.
To all whom it may concern: A y
' Be it known that I, CHARLES H. SNIDER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Conway, in the county of Horry and State of South Carolina, have invented new and useful Improvements in Lamp Attachments, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is an improved heating atcomprising va pair of substantially `T-shaped memberspdetachably secured together and adapted to be arran ed at right angles to each other orI to be olded together at will and to be placed in the upper end of a lamp chimney to form a support for a pot, pan or other vessel in which water or other material is to be heated or cooked, as hereinafter described and claimed.
The object of my invention is to lprovide an improved heating attachment of this character which is extremely simple and cheap and which, when not in use, may be compactly folded.
In the accompanying drawings z--Figure 1' is a perspective view of a heating attachment constructed in accordance with my invention, showing the same arranged in the upper end of a lamp chimney for use. Fig.'
2 is partly a side elevation and partly a vertical sectional view of the same. Fig. 3 is a plan View of the same in extended position in full lines and in folded position in dotted lines. Figs. 4 and 5 are detail elevations of the respective members of the heating attachment.
My improved heating attachment comprises a pair of substantially T-shaped members 1-2 which are preferably made oft sheet metal but may be made of any other suitable material. The arms 3 at the upper end of-'the member 1 are preferably provided with openings 4 near their outer ends,
and are also provlded at their outer upper corners with upwardly extending projecions 5. In the center of the member l,
at the upper end thereof, is a vertical slot- 6, the upper end of which is open. A vertical slot 7 is arranged centrally at the lower end of the Vertical arm 8 ofthe membep.'l 1 and the said slot 7 is open at its lower en The member 2 has arms 9 at. its upper end which are identical with the arms 3 of the member 1, being provided with openings 10 and. upwardly extending project-ions 11. The vertical arm 12 of the member 2 has a Specification of Letters Patent. Application led April 16, 1912. Serial No. 691,188.
Patented Jan. 7, 1913.
central vertical slot 13. This slot has its upper end closed and terminates at a dis'- of the slot 7, the said shoulder serving to close the lower end of the slot 13.
To assemblethe members of my heat-ing attachment, the sides of the arm 12 of the member 2 on opposite sides of the slot 13, are bent sli htly in opposite direct-ions, so as to open t e lower end of the slot 13 and the member 1 is then passed upwardly through the slot 13 to cause the said slot to engage the arm 8 of the member 1, also cause the slot 6 of the member 1 to engage the central upper portion of the member 2 and also cause the shoulder Vor projection 14 to engage the slot 7 of the member 1.
en thus arranged, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the members of the heating attachment may be disposed at right angles to each other for use or may be folded compactly against each other. When' the members of thel attachment are angles for use their lower arms may'be arranged in the upper end of a lamp chimney and their radial arms 3-9 may be arranged to bear onthe upper end of thelamp chimney .and serve tol support a vesselin which water or other material is to be. heated or cooked. T
While I have herein shown and described a preferred form of my invention, I would have it understood that changes may be ywade in the form, proportion and construction of the several from the spirit of my invention andwithin the scope of the appended claim.
-The herein described heating attachment for lamps comprising a pair of substantially T-shaped members each having a horizontal upper arm and a .depending vertical central arm, one of said members having a vertical central slot extending from its lower end to near its upper end and a projection or shoulder at one side of and to close the lower end of said slot, the other member having avertical, centrally arranged slot in its upper c nd, the upper end of which is open and being onding with the length of the slotV parts without departing' arranged at right also provided at-the lower end of its vertical that the said members are detachably con- 10 arm with a, vertical slot, the lower end of nected together and may be compactly., which is open, the unslotted portion ofthe folded or arranged at right angles.l
