COMBINED CIGARETTE-BOX AND MATCH-HOLDER.

To all whom it may concern: A

Beit known that I, HUGH A. GRIFFIN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Rocky IMount, in the county of Edgecombe and State of North invented a Combined Cigarette-Box and Match-Holder, of which the following is a specification. f

In my invention, a match-holder and igniter is pasted on the front of the cigarettebox proper and is so constructed as to normally cover and protect the fulminate ends when being withdrawn.

The details of construction, arrangement, and combination of parts are as hereinafter in the accompanying drawing, in -which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a cigarette box and my improved match-holder applied thereto, the box being partly extracted or Withdrawn `from the larger case or holder. ' 3 of the blank 3, when folded down as shown, forms both the match holder and the igniter which also constitutes the front vof the cigarette-box 1.

In order to insert matches in the holder formed by the folded flap 3a, the cigarettebox l is drawn partly out of the case or box 2, and the flap 3a raised, and the matches a: then laid in, as shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 3, and the flap 3 is then closed, thus clamping the matches so as to hold them in place. It will be seen that -their heads lie in the upper part of the fold and above the layer or coat ofrough material 4, so that the matches are inno danger of igniting accidentally. When the box 1 is shoved into the case 2, the flap 3a is held pressed elastically upon the matches but to confine them still more securely, the flap a-may be provided with' fastenings in the form of metalclips 5 applied at'the corners as shown.

To remove and ignite a match, the box 1 is drawn out partly or wholly from the case 2, and a match being then gripped and pulled down, its fulminate is ignited by sliding friction with the layers 4.

What I claim is A cigarette-box, match holder, and igniter,formed of a blank having its body or back portion provided with infolding side flaps, andy a narrow extension adapted to be folded to form the bottom of the box and also a part of its front, the free extremity ofthe extension being folded' upon itself and down upon the' front in a direction away HENRY MoDLlN,
