Description

PATENT OFFICE.
EMAIL YOUNG, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
l, IMPROVEMENT IN FAUCETS.
. Specifica-tion forming part of Letters Patent No. 104,811. dated June 28, 1570.
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, EMIL YoUNG, of Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Faucet for Beer and like Barrels; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and eX- act description thereof, sufficient to enable those skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to fully understand and' to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a side view. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section.
Like letters of reference indicate like parts in the several gures.
My invention consists in the peculiar construction and arrangement of the parts, as hereinafter fully described and claimed, where- 'by a much improvedland economical faueetis produced.
Referring to the drawings, A represents the barrel of a faucet made in the usual form and C covers the end of the longitudinal opening A', and is attached to a lever, d, which is pivoted in a plate, e, secured to the top of barrelv A, and covers the chamber B. 'Io keep the valve C close against the end of the opening A', there is inserted a piece of rubber, f, which bears against the valve and the opposite side of the chamber B. A piece of felt, g, is placed in a cavity above the opening A', which fills the space which would otherwise be open when the valve O is pressed forward. The sides of the valve bear against the sides of the chamber, so that the course of the liquid will be downward through the spout h, provided in the under side of the faucet and leading from the chamber B. A long metal ferrule, t', is fitted on the end of the faucet which enters the cask or barrel. There is also a short ferrule, j, on the outer end of the faucet. These are for protecting it and preventing from splitting.
Having thus described my invention, what I desire to secure by Letters Patent is The valve C, lever d, plate e, and spring f, when constructed and arranged in combination with the faucet A, having a chamber, B, as shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
