E. J. GOYULD, OF'MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN.
Letters Patent No. 98,688, dated .mmm 11, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN GLOBE-VALVES.
The Schedule referred to in these Lettera Patent and making part of the same.
'To all whom't may concern:
Be it known that I, E. J. GOULD, of the city and 'county of Milwaukee, and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Globe- Valves; and Ido hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled iu the art to make and use 1 the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this speciiication, in which--V date itself to the valve-seat.
G, a bar across the' main valve, with a hole iu it. H is a slide from the bottom of the main valve, with holes to let the steam through.
I is the stufing-box.
K is the screw on the valve-stem.
L is the handle with whichto uuscrew and screw on the valve. l
M, pin through stem D.
l Operation. The -steam is put` on so that it shall press onthe upper side of the valve. When you wish to open the valve, turn the handle L, and thevalve F will he raised from the seat E, and the steam will pass through and take oii the pressure from the main valve .0, and the valve F will strike the bar G and raise the main valve.
Claims.
I claim, as my invention- 1. Valve O, in combination with valve F and stem D, substantially as described. I
2. Pin M, attached to stem D for the purpose of lraising valve C, taking lhe pressure of steam off of valve C, substantially as described.
v E. J. GOULD.
