CONRAD FRANZ, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO,
IMPROVEMENT IN GAS-BURNERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 87,922, dated March 16, 1869.
To all whom it may concern Be itknown that I, CONRAD FRANZ, of Cincinnati, Hamilton county, Ohio, have invented a new and useful Gas-Burner; and I hereby declare the following to hea full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification.
This invention consists in a device for regulating the flow of gas so as to determine the maximum size of the flame independently of the customary faucet, so as to avoid blowing with waste of gas, 850.
Figure 1 is an axial section of a burner embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of my burner and socket detached.
A is asection of pipe whose interior is traversed by a diaphragm, B, perforated b at its center to form the seat of a conical valve, C,
at the lower extremity of the burner D, which burner has the customary hollow interior E,
communicating with the space in the pipe above the diaphragm by means of apertures (I, and is screw-threaded externally, F, to enter the interiorly screw-threaded portion G of the pipe.
The passage of gas through the burner is regulated by simply screwing the Valve C nearer to or'farther from the seat If. I claim herein as new and of my invention In the described combination, the pipe A, constructed with the perforated diaphragm B b and internal screw-thread, G, and the burner D, constructed with the conical point C, perforations cl d, and external screw-thread, F, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
