the barrel or cask is turned sons to bring the'bungin a horizont-al or downwardly-inclincd` position, thc elbow. i is inserted, and, by forcing the valve abackv 'against 4theaction of its spring, the 'liquid contained n the barrel or cask is free to discharge.v

It is obvious that the elbow t' may be w-made to 'e xtend to anyf desired distance beyond the bung, solas, fo carrythe liqnid clear of .the cask or barrel. v

By theseineans a bung is obtained which is '.rcry cheap in its construction, cost-ing less than one-twentieth of an ordinary tap, and which allows of tappi-ng its cask or barrel with ease and'convenience.
