. COMBINED KNIFE AND SAW.
Application filed May 23,
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, OSCAR RAADE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pelican Rapids, in the county of Ottertail, State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Knives and Saws; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the artto which it appert'ains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to a, combined knife and saw, and has for its object to construct a device of this character with simple andefiicient means for. holding and adjusting a knife and saw blade in a rigid and stretched position.
With these and other objects in view, the
invention consist-s in the construction and novel combination -of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claim hereto appended; it being understood that various changes in the form, proportion, size and minor details of construction,
within the scope of the claim, may be resorted towithoutdeparting from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages ofthe invention.
In the drawingzeFigure 1 isa side elevation of the device. Fig.2 is an end view of the same. Fig. 3f-is a fragmentary ,view of the rear end of thefdevice, partially in section. "Fig. 4; is a sectional view on line 4 1 of Fig. 1. f Referring to the drawing, the numeral 5 designates a bar having its inner and outer ends 6 and 7 respectively, reduced and screw threaded.
pairof inner and outer stretcher bars 1 8andg9,
respectively are employed the inprovided with a threaded perthe outer bar 9; having ner bar being foration. 10, and
formed therein an unthreaded perforation 11. The opposite ends of the bars 8 and 9 are provided with kerfs 12 in which the opposite ends of the knife blade 13 and saw blade 14 aresecured in any suitable manner.
The reduced end 7 of the bar 5 carries an adjusting nut or stop 15 which is threaded thereon before said extension is passed through the perforation 11. After the bar Copies of this patent mayf b e obtained'fuz Specification of Letters Patent.

stretcher bars 8 and 9 the same may be stretched upon manipulation of the adjustaccidental retraction of said blades.
VVha-t is claimed, is: t In a device of the class nuts threaded upon said terminals and abutting the ends of the bar proper, stretcher ba rs disposed upon said threaded terminals 'in contact with the nuts, tools extending be-' tween and connected with the ends of the Ininal-of. the bar and engaging the adjacent stretcher bar, a handle including a plate carried by the opposite threaded terminal of the bar'a-nd engaging bar, arms extending from said plateand a grip member connecting the arms, and a minal of the bar a nd ,contacting with the plate.
