To all whom it may. concern:

Be it known that I, NORMA FORD SoHA- FUSS, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Hose- Supporter, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The object of the inventionis to provide a new and improved hose supporter, arranged to prevent tearing or ripping of the hose and to allow of perfect freedom of the limbs especially at the knees of the wearer.

For the urpose mentioned use is made of a band 'avmg converging members, the

terminals of which are provided with means for connection with the upper edge of the hose on opposite sides thereof, and supporting straps for-the said band and connected therewith at the outer terminals and at the joint of the converging band members.

A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

The hose A to be supported is provided at its upper edge and .on opposite sides with tabs B having buttonholes B adapted to be engaged by buttons 0 held on short flexible loops D, sewed or otherwise secured to the ends of a band E, preferably made of elastic webbing and having two converging members E, E of different length, the long member E extending from the front of the limb of the wearer to the outside of the limb, and the short member E extending from the front of the limb to the inner side thereof. The apex or junction E of the converging members E, E is located approxi mately at the-front of the limb a distance above the knee of the wearer, and the said apex and the ends of the band E are connected with supporting straps F, F and F,

By arranging the band E with the converging members E and E as shown and described the band allows freedom of the leg, especially at the knee, and at the same time no undue strain is exerted by the band on the upper edge of the hose, thus avoiding tearing or ripping of the hose. By making the,- member E longer than the member E the terminal of the member E reaches slightly to the rear of the hose to support the hose properly, while the terminal of the short member E is nearer the front, and thus the inner buttons C and the tabs B of the two legs are not liable to come in contact or rub against each other. It is understood that by converging the members E, E of the band E, the apex E is 10- cated a distance, above the knee while the terminals of the outer members E, E the tabs D and buttons C reach to the sides of the leg at the knee, and hence on bending the knee no undue strain is exerted on the hose and at the same time the knee is wholly unobstructed by the hose supporter and hence can be bent with perfect freedom.

It is understood that I do not limit myself to the particular form of the belt G shown as the same may be varied, or other means employed for attaching the upper ends of the supporting straps F, F, F to the waist or other garment. The connecting means between the terminals of. the band E and the upper edge of the hose may also be varied without deviating from the invention.

The tabs B are preferably made of a doubled up piece of fabric material to straddle the upperedge of the hose, the straddling members being sewed to the hose as indicated in Fig. 3.

It is understood that in the well known form of a garment supporter having asingle strap provided with branches at the lower ends for attachment to the hose, the latter is unduly strained when the bearer bends the knee and hence the hose is liable to betorn in a comparatively short time, and in garment supporters having a plurality of straps suspended from the corset and each directly connectedwith the hose, the strain on the latter is greatest over the knee when the knee is bent and the hose stretched over the knee. In my hose supporter the knee portionof the hose is unsupported and hence not subjected to strain as the front strap terminates a distance from the knee and attaehment to the hose is had only at the sides thereof and in such a manner that the arms E and E are practically released when the wearer sits down or bends the knee and hence the strain on the hoseis reduced to a minimum. By attaching the front strap F to the apex or junction of the diverging arms E, E of the band E, the latter is held against downward movement and the arms E and E are practically free to swing with the supported apex as the fulcrum to relieve Y the hose of undue strain.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. A hose supporter, comprisin a belt having two sets of depending a justable straps, each set consisting of three straps, bands, each having converging members of unequal length and arranged with the apex thereof above the knee, the end of each member of the band being provided with a button, supporting straps of unequal length secured to the straps of the belt and to the ends and apices of the bands, and button hole tabs secured to the hose and with which the buttons of the bands engage.

2. A hose supporter, comprising a belt having two sets of depending adjustable straps, each set consisting of three straps, bands, each having converging members and arranged with the apex thereof above the knee, the end of each member of the band being provided with means,,whereby it may be connected with the hose, and three supporting straps attached to each band and to the straps of the belt, the middle strap of each set being secured to'the apex of each band and the side straps to the ends of said 'bands.'
