and to form the fronts of the compartments when closed.

The accompanying drawing represents a perspecspective view of the book repository.

A represents a square or rectangular case, of any desired size, with vertical paltitons therein, forming thereby compartments for the book-frames.

lhis invention is more especially intended to apply to books of record, ledgers, 4and other large or heavy books, but is applicable to other and all books, and is especially valuable for keeping and preserving choice and costly book,of every description.

B represent-s the compartments, more or less in number, and arranged in tiers, if desired, one above another. Each compartment is somewhat broader and higher than the book designed for it.

0 represents frames, composed of the front-D, the

triangular side pieces E, and bottom pieces F.

The fronts and the bottoms are fastened together to form right angles, and a frame is hinged to each compartment at the bottom end of the front, as seen at G.

H is a book, placed within its back, upon the inside ot the point of one of the frames.

The book is supported in this position by the triangular side piece E, and the frame itself is Aheld in this position when it is turned down on its hinge for placing or removing a book by means of stop-pins I, or-in any other suitable manuel'.

When the frame is let down, as seen, thebook rests upon its back on thefront l). NVhenit is closed up into its lcompartment the book stands upright on the bottom F. By this' arrangement, a book is proteeted from harm, when not in use, and, when wanted, it is made readily accessible by turning down the frame.

Tile outside of the front is properly labeled, to in dicate the character of the book within.

For preserving books of record, ledgers, and choice and valuable books of every description, the -advantage of this invention must be apparent to all.

Having thus described my invention,

I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentl The improved book-repository, consisting of the rectangular case A, provided with a series of compartments', B, and the hinged frames C E F, all constructed and arranged as shown and described.
