INVENTOR Gennara 6z'uylzana ATTORNEYS COLUMBIA PLANOGRAPH cm. VIASIHNQTDN, D. c.
GENNABO GIUGLIANO, OF WEST HOBCKEN, NEW JERSEY.
HOLDER FOR A PAPER OF PINS.
Specification of Letters l atent. Patented Sept. 10, 1912.
Application filed June 21, 1911. Serial No. 634,465.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GENNARo GIUGLIANO, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of West Hobo-ken, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Holder for a Paper of Pins, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved holder for holding a paper of pins, and arranged to display single row of pins at a time and in such a manner that the individual pins of the dis played row of pins can be readily removed by the user whenever desired.
A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the holder for a paper of pins and arranged in the form of a stand; Fig. 2 is a transverse section of the holder hung up on a wall; and Fig. 3 is a perspective View of the winding-up roller with the movable member in open position.
A suitably constructed casing A is provided at its front upper portion with a door B connected at its lower end by hinges C with the fixed lower portion of the front D of the casing A, and the said door is provided at the sides near the upper end with fastening devices E for holding the door B in a closed position. When the door B is unlocked and swung into an open position then a paper of pins can be conveniently placed in the casing A, it being understood that the paper of pinsconsists of the usual sheet of paper F, on which are held rows of pins F.
In the open top of the casing A extends a fixed bar G, over which is adapted to pass a sheet of paper F, the said bar G being arranged relative to the upper free end of the door B, so that the row of pins F on the top at the time extends from the bar G to and below the free end of the door B, so as to hold the paper of pins against movement over the bar G in a rearward direction, as
will be readily understood by reference to' Fig. 2.
It is understood that by the arrangement described the row of pins F in uppermost position at the time is readily displayed for convenient removal of the individual pins of this uppermost row by the user of the holder, and when the pins of the uppermost row have all been removed from the sheet of paper F, then the latter can be drawn over the bar G in a rearward direction to draw up the next following row of pins into uppermost position and to display the same for convenient removal of the individual pins by the user as previously mentioned. The empty portion of the sheet of paper F winds on a drum or roller H journaled in the sides of the casing A a distance below'the bar'G and approximately opposite the lower ends of the pins F of the uppermost row of pins. The roller or drum H is provided at its ends with knobs H extending outside of the casing A, to permit the user to wind up the sheet of paper F after the pins F of the uppermost row of pins have been removed. The drum or roller H is preferably provided with a hinged clamping member H to permit of clamping the terminal of the sheet of paper F between the parts so as to permit of readily winding up the sheet of paper F on the drum H.
The casing A may be arranged in the form of a stand for supporting it on a table or the like, and for this purpose the casing is preferably provided with a lug I pivoted at I on the sides of the casing A, and adapted to rest on the table or other support, as plainly indicated in Fig. 1. The lug I is provided at its sides with a flanged extension I for attachment to a wall or other support as indicated in Fig. 2, and the casing is also provided at its back and at the upper end thereof with a loop J for engagement with a pin K driven into a wall or other support.
A pincushion L is preferably mounted on the front of the lug I, which latter is also provided with a drawer N for storing miscellaneous articles.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
In a holder for a paper of pins, a casing having an open top and provided with a hinged door at its front upper portion,
means in the casing for exposing a row of a name to this specification in the presence of paper of pins at the open top of the casing, two subscribing Witnesses. and a supporting member pivoted to the ends of the casing and extending forwardly GENNARO GIUGLIANO' beyond the front of the casing and adapted Witnesses: to rest upon a table or other support. THEO. G. HosTER,
In testimony whereof I have signed my PHILIP D. RoLLHAUs.
Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents, Washington, D. C.
