means for supporting stockings on the leg of the wearer without risk of tearing the stocking head as is caused by loop-and-button grips or clips, and also with the object of providing an improved means of securing suspenders to the leg of the wearer. so that when the same are attached to a corset tab tension will be transmitted directly to the leg and not to a grip or clip which. grasps the stocking.

A suspender according to this invention is illustrated as applied in use in Figure 1 of the accompanying drawings, and in separate perspective view in Fig. 2. Fig. 3 is a detail view of the garter band clips.

A is a garter band which is secured over I the stocking B below the knee of the wearer;

C is a similar band secured over the stocking above the knee. These bands may be of either flexible or inextensible material. fitted at the ends with buckles or clips, which may be made conveniently in the form shown in Fig. 3 and fitted also with a free running extending loop as shown at M Fig. 2. The garter bands A and C are connected together by loops D of textile material, one of which is placed to lie at either side of the knee cap; these loops may be slid along the bands i and C and set where desired by the wearer. At the head, these straps or vertical braces D are secured to the ends of a hanger loop .F, the bight of said hanger being carried on the cross bar of the buckle G, to which the Suspender H is attached, a corset tab clip K being fitted at the upper end of the suspender. The loo F may be fixed to the bar of the buckle G y sewing, or it may be allowed to run free over the same thereby to equalize the tension of the loops D. The buckle Gr allows the length of the suspender H to be varied.' The straps AD should be arranged so that when the suspender is in wear they will set approximately in line with the loop pieces F.

The garter clips or fastenings consist of a dished piece L with T slot, and'a fiat button M with bent shank N leading from one edge of it. The button M is readily insertible in the cross part of the T-slot and is locked when the shank N is drawn into the stem of the slot as shown. A

The free-running buckles M permit ready adjustment of the garter girths for fitting purposes.

What I to secure by Letters Patent is A stocking suspender-garter cw prising an under-knee and an over-knee arter band independent thereof, each band provide 1 with length adjusters and end clips, two connecting loops slidablc independent of each other over each of said bands, a hanger loop attached to the ends of the connecting loops, and a support for the hanger.
