SEED-CORN HANGER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 6, 1912.
Application filed November 4, 1911. Serial No. 658,560.
To all whom 'it may concern.
Be it known that I, Gnono A. LANG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Maurice, in the county of Sioux and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Seed-Corn Hangers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to hangers for supporting ears of seed corn; and it consists in the novel construction of the hanger as hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a side view of a seed corn hanger constructed according to this invention. Fig. 2 is an edge view of the hanger.
The hanger is formed of a single piece of metallic rod or wire, one end portion of which is .bent to the form of a hook-shaped loop 2 and adapted to be hung over a wire or other similar support. The other end portion of the piece of wire is provided with a series of zig-zag or wavy folds 3, arranged edgewise in the same plane, and it terminates in a blunt end portion 4 which projects longitudinally.
The zig-zag portion of the hanger is thrust into the soft central portion of the ear of corn, and if it does not hold it tightly enough it is twisted around a little to make it hold better. These hangers can be made in large quantities at very little expense.
What I claim is:
A hanger for seed corn, comprising a metallic rod having a series of continuous zigzag folds arranged edgewise in the same plane and terminating in a blunt end portion, and having a suspension loop at its other end.
In testimony whereof I have ailixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
