UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CARL WEILERT, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO E. L. MANSURE COMPANY, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, A CORPORATION OF ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A VALANCE.
Specification for Design.
Patented July 28, 1914.
Application filed May 11, 1914. Serial No. 837,952. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CARL WEILERT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for Valances, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof. My invention relates to an ornamental valance and similar drapery such as are employed in the decorative scheme of windows, doors, arches, and other openings in stores and residences. It is usually hung from the top of such openings and is draped across the upper portion thereof.
ThlS design comprises an elongated strip of fabric having a straight upper edge and having its lower edge provided with vertically elongated pendent members at each end. Mediate these pendent portions and at about the center of length of the lower edge a curved or segmental-shaped pendent member is provided thus leaving the remaining stretch of the lower edge strai ht and arallel with the upper edge of the Va ance. Paralleling the straight upper edge and also the irregular lower edge are a wide and a narrow band of contrasting material while short stoles or straps hang pendent from the central portions of the pendent end members. A fringe hangs from the lower irregular edge and the space above the central segmental member is ornamented with a wreath of garlands.
I claim:
The ornamental design for a valance, substantially as shown and described.
CARL WEILERT. Witnesses:
