To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, OLAF N. Hnocn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hatton, in the county of Traill and State of North Dakota, have invented new and useful Improvements in Display-Racks, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in display racks, especially adapted for connecting and supporting the head and foot portions of iron and brass beds, in order to display the same in stores and warehouses, the object of this invention being to provide an improved rack of this kind which may be employed instead of the usual short bars for connecting the head and foot boards or portions of metal beds together.

The invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangementof devices hereinafter described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawing -Figure 1 is a front elevation of a display rack constructed in accordance with my invention, showing the same in use in connection with the head and foot portions of a metal bed, the said head and foot portions being indicated in dotted outline. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of the lower portion of one of the members of my display rack.

In accordance with my invention, I provide a pair of L-shaped members 1, each of which comprises a vert-ical standard 2, a base portion 3 which is at right angles to and projects from one side of the standard, and an upwardly extending foot which rises from the base portion and is opposite the standard. Each foot is beveled on opposite sides of its upper end to form an upwardly projecting wedge-shaped or inverted V-shaped point 5. The members 1 of my display rack are connected together by a pair of crossed bars 6 the ends of which bear on and are riveted to the standards 2, the central portions of the said crossed bars being also riveted together. These crossed bars are of any suitable length and serve to securely connect the members 1 of the rack and to dispose them at a suitable distance apart. Near the upper end of the standard portion of each member 1 is an opening 7 and at a suitable distance below the said opening 7 is another opening 8. In connection with the members 1 and the crossed bars of my improved rack, I also provide a pair of substantially U-shaped clevises 9 each of which has at the central portion of its yoke an outwardly projecting threaded stem 10 which may be arranged in either of the openings 7-8 of one of the rack members 1. Winged nuts 11 are screwed on these threaded stems of the clevises and serve to clamp the clevises to the members 1 of the rack at any suitable adjustment of the clevises.

In use, my display racks are employed in pairs, and the legs of the head and foot boards or members of the metal base are engaged between the arms of the clevises, the lower ends of the legs which are hollow being seated on-and engaged by the upwardly projecting points 5 of the feet 4. The clevises may be turned either horizontally or to any required inclination in order to cause their arms to bear snugly against the legs of the bed steads according to the diameters of the legs and, hence, the clevises are adapted to engage bed legs of varying sizes.

Where the legs of the bed stead are of unusual size, I also employ detachable points 19. which are larger' than the points 5 and which Ibear against the inner sides of and are detachably secured to the feet 4 by means of bolts 13.

In practice, a number of my racks may be arranged in line to support any desired number of bed steads and when thus arranged in line, the racks may be connected together by bars 14 of suitable length, the said bars being bolted to the members 1 of the racks, as at 15.
