' vided with two flaps 4 and 5, which are shaped like the tail of a dove, and the outer edges of which are provided with tie strings 6 moving in border guides 7, whereby the 4 flaps can be secured in place on the head of thewearer. The flaps 4 and 5 and the central portion 1 are made out of. one pieceof material, either by stamping or cutting. By drawing the strings 3, a convenient protecting head or hat covering is formed. Either one, or both of the flaps may be used, as desired. Owing to the transparency of the material from which the covering is made, the appearance of a hat will not be hid thereby, nor will the sight of a wearer be obscured when the front flap is used. The material I'prefer to use for the front flap of the covering is rubberized or oiled silk, which will afford adequate protection against either rain or dust. IVhen it is desired to hold one or both of the flaps in an inoperative position either or both are placed under the central portion of the covering and are thereby concealed.
Having described my invention I claim A transparent waterproof covering for hats consisting of a very full top portion adapted to completely cover a hat, drawstrings for closing said top portion around the hat, front and back flaps dependable from said top portion, draw string guides between said top portion and said flaps and draw strings adapted to hold said flaps closely around the neck of a wearer.
